Guests say

Ossco is a well-loved family home with stunning views and a warm atmosphere, ideal for multi-generational family holidays. Guests appreciate the property's location, the welcome treats, and the well-equipped kitchen with an Aga. While some find the decor dated and the mattresses uncomfortable, the charm of the house and its setting often leads to repeat visits.

The property is generally well-maintained, though there are isolated reports of an odd smell and ants. A mouse box with poison was found, indicating pest control measures are in place. The cleanliness is satisfactory, but attention to detail could improve the score.

The location is consistently praised for its stunning views and proximity to local attractions. It is considered a highlight and a strong selling point of the property.

Comfort receives mixed reviews. The house is described as cozy and warm, but several guests mention that the mattresses are lumpy or worn out, and some furniture is uncomfortable. Updating these could significantly enhance comfort levels.

Facilities are adequate with a well-equipped kitchen and ample space. However, there are reports of maintenance issues such as failing decking joists, non-functioning toilet flushes, and a need for clearer instructions for appliances. Addressing these would improve the score.

Guests mention welcome treats and appreciate the provision of essentials. However, as these gifts are not consistently referenced, and to ensure expectations are managed, it should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Ossco is an attractive and contemporary self-catering coastal property, enjoying outstanding sea views from Polzeath, Cornwall. From its striking interior design to its commanding clifftop setting, Ossco is the perfect family home in North Cornwall that welcomes your dogs as well. Effortlessly stylish, the house sleeps ten guests, making it ideal for large groups and family celebrations. The spacious open-plan living areas have plate glass windows, allowing you to invite the incredible ocean views indoors. Architecturally crafted, this is high-standard accommodation complete with underfloor heating, a woodburning stove, state-of-the-art kitchen with both an oil-fired AGA and separate electric oven/hob, and multiple dishwashers, whilst outside there is a Coach House annexe. Ossco is gated from the road with parking for several cars, whilst to the front and side of the house are large stone terraces with teak patio furniture, leading on to huge lawns affording truly breath-taking views of the rugged Atlantic Ocean. The surrounding National Trust coastline is accessible via the nearby public footpath leading down to Lundy Bay, a sheltered cove with sandy beaches at low tide. Polzeath beach is only a short drive away and a favourite spot for surfers of all ability, with beach side cafes and restaurants as well as shops and galleries. Sailing, waterskiing, and inflatable rides take place on the sheltered Camel Estuary with dinghy hire or tuition found at Rock. For an easy day on the beach pack a picnic, a cricket set, and bucket and spades, and head for Daymer Bay - with clear blue bathing water, rock pools galore and some of the best sunsets, it's the perfect spot to linger. Escape to beautiful Cornwall from Ossco.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.

The presence of owner’s personal items and mementos added warmth and character. We enjoyed the access to secluded beaches and coastal paths , but what will remain with us above all are those stunning uninterrupted views of the sea and headlands . A special place . Kevin and Alison Tebbit

Aga not working, oil had to be refilled but never re connected. Not a problem for us, but needed to be reported. A cordless Dyson would be a great help as brooms next to useless on kitchen floor…. We had a wonderful family time @ Ossco & would appreciate another booking for 2025 from 29/8 to 05/9 as my family consider it as a home from home… not that any of us have that view!! Please confirm that we will be contacted when 2025 bookings open. 2 glasses & 1 mug broken, please advise re payment for these broken items .Thank you, Susan Walters & family

By far one of the most impressive houses I’ve stayed in. The house was perfect for our multi generational family holiday.
