About this property

The Boat House is in an idyllic location on the bank of the beautiful, tidal River Fowey estuary in St Winnow. This much loved, detached, 440-year-old cottage on two levels is situated on the owner's working farm and boatyard where boat storage is available. Wonderful for carefree family holidays. Cloakroom (for coats/boots); bright open-plan living/dining and kitchen area with electric flame-effect fire, floor-to-ceiling window looking over the river and door to garden. Downstairs bunk bedroom (children only)and family shower room. Stairs up to two more airy bedrooms under the eaves with sloping ceilings and beams, both with views to the river – a double and a twin.

There is a private garden and terrace with garden furniture overlooking the river, just right for al fresco meals or a bit of wildlife spotting. The little town of Lostwithiel is just a few miles away with shops, pubs, cafes and ancient Restormel Castle to explore. A cosy cottage in a fabulous location for those who like walking, cycling or messing about on the river.

Perched on the river Fowey, Golant is a quaint Cornish waterside village offering a Fisherman’s arms Pub, the Cormorant Hotel and Restaurant and a retail art gallery. This charming village, due to the stretch of the River Fowey Golant sits on, has inspired many writers including the author of “The Wind in the Willows".

No seal this time but we enjoyed watching the birdlife on the river and the changing tides and weather. Watching boats being taken out of the water at high tides was interesting too! The cake etc. waiting for us on arrival was excellent.
