Crafthole is a beautiful village in southeast Cornwall, situated on the Rame Peninsula. Sheviock Parish is home to a charming little village with a country pub, a general store, a chapel, a post office, and a community centre. This sneaky village gained notoriety in the 19th century for smuggling rum through the Portwrinkle harbour and up the long and steep hill to Crafthole Methodist Chapel. Portwrinkle is a beautiful seaside village that features a large golf course, sandy beaches, and a historic building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (Grade II listed building). There are many wonderful places to visit in the area, such as the bustling city of Plymouth, the charming seaside town of Looe, and the picturesque fishing villages of Millbrook and Downderry. Antony is a small town close by that is a popular tourist destination due to its many tourist attractions, including its gardens, museums, boat trips, and opportunities for hiking and biking along the cliffs. If you're touring the Cornish coast and need a peaceful respite, Crafthole is a great choice.

It is very clean and cosy. The owner phoned us during our stay to check if we were ok and if we needed anything. This is a home from home and we will be back for sure!

Spotted some cobwebs in the porch and junk mail left on side. We opted to sleep downstairs - closer to toilet. Light sensor very sensitive so had to close bedroom door. Over Christmas too few fire lighters and local store was shut. Pressed logs didn’t burn well but we managed to light it the first night to heat up stove. Appliances etc are good quality and all worked. A lovely welcome pack . Well appointed and even though by roundabout we didn’t notice. Not a place if you are not good with steps. Garden access is steep but rails helped. Great for the Finnygook inn! Easy reach to the beach or coast walk.

Whitsand beach must be the most deserted in Cornwall and the cliff top cafe has excellent food. We have to return to this wonderful base for exploration. I hadn't realised how entertaining it can be to wash up overlooking a roundabout!
