About this property

This attractive, two-storey cottage lies in a great position in the coastal town of Rock. Beautifully presented with original features in keeping with age of the property, West Cottage is a great choice for a family seeking some time away from normality. After a day on the beach, wash away the sand in the bathroom before heading into the kitchen to prepare a hearty meal. Serve up in the dining room complimented with a bottle of fizz, before following the slate flooring into the lounge, where you can sink into the sofa and enjoy catch-up on the Smart TV. On those warm days, head outside and bask in the sunshine from the enclosed garden, with a barbecue and set of furniture that welcomes alfresco dining. The bedrooms lie upstairs and include the master double with Smart TV, whilst there are two single bedrooms to either side of the landing. Pack up your seaside essentials and head to the golden sands of Polzeath Beach, a heaven for surfers with its consistent, slow break waves, whilst holidaymakers can soak up the sunshine at Rock Beach, before ending the evening with a bite to eat at one of the village’s excellent eateries; why not indulge in a cream tea or Cornish pasty? Join the impressive South West Coast Path and enjoy scenic views that lead to the coastal towns of Port Isaac, famously used for filming Doc Martin, and Padstow where you can visit the colourful harbour and see the National Lobster Hatchery. With all this, plus the bustling attractions of Newquay within easy reach, there’s so much to look forward to whilst holidaying at West Cottage.

On the north eastern bank of the River Camel, opposite the well-known harbour town of Padstow, which is conveniently accessible by a regular ferry service, lies Rock, an attractive and highly sought-after coastal village. The true lure is the variety of watersports available, including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, and fishing. The summer residence of royalty and celebrities offers top-notch restaurants and high-end stores. In keeping with the theme of sports, the neighbouring Saint Enodoc golf course is regarded as one of the greatest in the country. With so many great beaches nearby, it is easy to see why Rock continues to be popular.

The cleaner had done a first rate job to make the cottage really welcoming. Just a couple of points l would like to mention. The basin is very small in the bathroom , so the kitchen sink was used instead. The rug in the hallway is rather dangerous as it slips . I would carpet the hall . My partner slipped over so we removed it for the duration of our stay. The light in the bathroom which starts the fan off is extremely loud in the room above, the main bedroom. We tended not to put it on at night as it really disturbs sleeping above. Also the pillows are extremely hard. If l am lucky to stay again l would bring my own pillow. These l know are just minor niggles. Many thanks, we had a lovely 10 days, and were very lucky with the weather.

Despite staying in December, the heating system certainly kept us very warm and comfortable. We would certainly stay again.
