Culverwells is a well-loved cottage in Devon, praised for its beautiful views, spacious and cosy rooms, and large, secure garden. Guests appreciate the property's rural charm, family-friendly amenities, and proximity to local attractions. While some minor maintenance issues and dog restrictions were noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The cottage is consistently described as clean, with only one mention of leftover rubbish from previous guests, which seems to be an isolated incident. The positive remarks about cleanliness in the majority of reviews suggest a high standard is maintained.
The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, beautiful views, and proximity to local amenities and attractions. The rural setting is perfect for a tranquil getaway, with easy access to beaches and towns.
Guests find the beds very comfortable and the property cosy, with ample living space. However, there are comments about low sofas being unsuitable for elderly guests, which suggests some room for improvement in comfort for all.
The property is well-equipped, with a special mention of the conservatory and garden facilities. Some maintenance issues, such as low doorways and the need for a stair gate, have been noted, indicating that while facilities are generally good, there is some room for improvement.

The lovely market town of Axminster has been made famous by the well-known organic shop and canteen in the area, which were introduced by TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Nestled in outstanding peaceful countryside, Axminster is certainly a place to relax and unwind. Famous for its carpets, which are often likened to Turkish examples, it is one of Devon’s prettiest smaller towns. Situated on the River Axe and within easy reach of both the West Dorset and East Devon Jurassic Coast, Axminster has many attractions, including plenty of privately owned shops, a weekly market and excellent old inns, with one dating back 100 years with its own resident ghost! With beautiful views on offer and the National Trust properties of Shute Barton and Loughwood Meeting House close by, Axminster is a must to visit.
