The kitchen is well-equipped for lazy breakfasts or evening meals, while the electric wood burner adds a gentle warmth to the living space, perfect for unwinding after a day outdoors. There are two comfortable bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed, the other a twin that can be set up as a super king if preferred. Both have their own en-suite shower rooms, offering privacy and a touch of comfort for families or couples sharing. Outside your door, eight acres of grounds invite you to explore. Once part of the old Furley Estate, Goodmans House sits on a sloping westerly hillside, offering breathtaking views across the country that stretch into two neighbouring counties. The grounds are full of quiet charm—open fields, winding paths through wooded areas, and two large ponds that mirror the sky and attract birds and wildlife. Near the Duck Pond, a fire pit and picnic table create the perfect spot for an outdoor meal or an evening under the stars.
One of the highlights of the grounds is the Walled Garden with the Orangery. Light-filled and tastefully furnished, it’s a wonderful space to enjoy a drink, read a book, or share a moment with friends. Benches and gazebos are dotted throughout the gardens, each offering its own special view or a quiet corner to relax. Though the setting is wonderfully quiet and secluded, you’re only five miles from Axminster and Chard with their independent shops and eateries, and just eleven miles from the dramatic Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis—where clifftop walks, fossil hunting, and sea air await.

We’ve just had an amazing two week break dnd thoroughly enjoyed our stay at “Brabazon” Furley Cottages. The cottage was perfect and very well equipped. Our host Carol was fantastic and walked us around the beautiful grounds on our first day and was kn hand anytime we had a question about the local area and facilities. The location and setting of the cottage was wonderful and we’ve come home knowing that we’ve been very fortunate to spend time at such a magical place. Lots to do and see see in the local area and further afield easily accessible - we managed to visit the stunning beeches nearby as well as a day trip to Torbay / Paignton and Yeovilton Fleeet Air Arm museum. All round and amazing stay and have no hesitation in recommending Brabazon and Furley Cottages.

Cottage was very clean, well equipped and ideally located to visit places of interest in Dorset, Somerset and Devon. The gardens were stunning, the orangery an oasis of peace and tranquility. The host was very welcoming, she did everything she could to make our stay a wonderful one, before, during and after (I inadvertently left something behind). I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this accommodation.

The cottage was a little tired as was the gardens around it. It did not reflect the pictures online. The farm tracks were very unsatisfactory through a farm, opening gates and big pot holes. No way could you go out at night ! This was not made clear online.
