Guests say

The Farmhouse at Higher Westwater is consistently praised for its excellent condition, well-equipped facilities, and peaceful rural setting. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, including a welcome pack and child-friendly amenities. The property offers a comfortable stay with beautiful countryside views, ideal for family gatherings and dog-friendly holidays.

Guests have not explicitly mentioned cleanliness, but the repeated mention of the property being well-equipped and comfortable suggests a high level of cleanliness. The absence of negative comments regarding cleanliness supports a high score.

The location is described as peaceful and rural, with beautiful surroundings. The narrow access road is noted, but not as a drawback, indicating that the seclusion is part of the charm. The property's proximity to walks and local attractions is also positively mentioned.

Comfort is highlighted with mentions of comfortable beds, extra pillows, and a well-appointed garden. One review noted a less comfortable mattress, but this seems an isolated comment within the context of overall positive feedback.

Facilities are frequently commended for being well-equipped and maintained to a high standard. The kitchen, in particular, is noted for its appliances and equipment. One minor suggestion for sharper knives indicates room for improvement, but overall, the facilities are highly regarded.

Thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of children's bath toys, books, detailed maps for walks, and a welcome pack. While gifts such as welcome packs are mentioned and appreciated, it is important to note that such offerings are subject to change and not guaranteed.

Celebrity chef and TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has his very first River Cottage Canteen and Deli (an organic produce shop/market and canteen) here, and his River Cottage HQ is nearby in the Axe valley. There are many places to visit close by including many NT properties. This is an ideal spot for walking with a footpath close to the property. It is a loverly house that is very well equipped. The road access is very narrow and though not far from Axminster does make it feel very remote which is not a negative.

Absolutely lovely farmhouse in rural setting. The drive from the main road is one car wide so it can be challenging but we'll worth it for this peaceful place. Our dog loved watching the hens and making friends with the owners dog Molly. You have to drive to places although the owner has put together some walks and we did walk to Millers farms hop and cafe however be warned the bridge over the ford is closed and we got wet feet. We had a great week and didn't want to leave.
