Axminster 1.6 miles. Nestling in four acres of beautiful communal gardens, is this stylish single-storey holiday cottage, The Peach House which is just a short drive from Axminster in Devon. Perfect for couples looking for a rural retreat, The Peach House offers a superb countryside setting but within a short drive from the hustle and bustle of some of Devon’s most popular towns and attractions. The open-plan living space helps to create a really bright and airy ambience to the property with wood flooring and lots of attractive picture windows providing additional light and space. The sitting area is warm and inviting with the small but perfectly formed kitchen providing everything you could possibly need to rustle up a romantic meal for two which can be enjoyed in the elegant dining area complete with rustic dining table and chairs.
Step into the stylish bedroom which has delightful views over the gardens and which offers a relaxing sanctuary away from the hurly burly of holiday life. After a refreshing night’s sleep, hop in the shower to wake yourself up and maybe take breakfast outside on the patio area overlooking the gardens where you can plan the day’s activities. So many attractions await you on a trip to Devon it can be hard to know where to begin. A few minutes in the car is the picturesque market town of Axminster which is well worth a visit thanks to its scenic position on the River Axe and great selection of shops, boutiques, bars, cafes and restaurants.
Axminster Heritage Centre is worth popping into to find out more about the area’s fascinating heritage and a little further away is the delightful town of Lyme Regis which has shops aplenty and a museum and an aquarium. You can’t come to Devon without a day at the beach and great ones to visit nearby include Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Seatown, Beer and Monmouth. If you are keen for a memorable holiday for two, pay a visit to The Peach House.
The lovely market town of Axminster has been made famous by the well-known organic shop and canteen in the area, which were introduced by TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Nestled in outstanding peaceful countryside, Axminster is certainly a place to relax and unwind. Famous for its carpets, which are often likened to Turkish examples, it is one of Devon’s prettiest smaller towns. Situated on the River Axe and within easy reach of both the West Dorset and East Devon Jurassic Coast, Axminster has many attractions, including plenty of privately owned shops, a weekly market and excellent old inns, with one dating back 100 years with its own resident ghost! With beautiful views on offer and the National Trust properties of Shute Barton and Loughwood Meeting House close by, Axminster is a must to visit.

We found it comfortable and it was in a good position for visiting the area. For the owner - just to note that there was no tin opener in the Peach House and also we were not able to use the retractable washing line as it wouldn't go in or out.

Other reviewers have commented on the traffic noise - it is there, but not too much of a distraction. Everything was well-prepared and organised, including a welcome card, a vase of hydrangeas from the garden and some delicious biscuits. We very much appreciated Stuart, the owner, calling in when we first arrived. This would be an ideal cottage for someone with access needs, as everything is very much to hand.

It is well equipped and very well maintained. It is located in lovely grounds but is very close to a very busy main road and so suffers from constant traffic noise which made sitting out on the patio very difficult. The building is small with an all in one lounge/diner/ kitchen. It has a very good wet room. The bedroom is very comfortable. The bed is very large with a cashmere mattress. The biggest drawback is the very poor internet. We had to find somewhere everyday to log on to the web. The TV only has a limited Freeview reception but there is a good dvd player. It should be noted that there is no washing machine. The local area has many good locations to visit and the town of Axminster is excellent One very good plus point for dog owners is the extremely large fenced field available to exercise the dogs. We enjoyed our stay but found it rather small with a few negative points
