Grade II listed building / Four poster bed. This converted, Grade II listed barn at the end of a row of four, is located on a quiet sheep farm and has far-reaching views across the Axe Valley towards Seaton. It has been awarded 4 stars by Visit Britain, and would be marvellous for two to three families accommodated in four bedrooms with four bathrooms. The heating comes from a wood biomass boiler, and the electricity is aided by a 50kw solar panel array.
You have freedom to roam 150 acres of green fields and woodland, or sit out on the enclosed private patio with its water feature and revel in the beautiful scenery or watch the wildlife and farm animals. A children’s play area is available.
Seaton with its mile long beach is 2 miles away with the famous Seaton and District Electric Tramway, golf, fishing, and superb cliff walks. Lyme Regis, with its Cobb, offers good sailing and water-skiing. Visit the Donkey Sanctuary, Broadwindsor Craft Centre, Crealy Adventure Playground at Exeter or Bicton Park Gardens at Budleigh. The rich and rolling farmlands nearby are dotted with ancient market towns and mellow stone villages. The Blackdown Hills where gorse-clad hilltops descend through to secluded wooded valleys. Walkers will delight in reaching the Duke of Wellington’s monument. Shop 1.5 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Wir hatten einen super Aufenthalt in "the stables". Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und alles war für eine Tasse Tee gerichtet.Für vier Personen war massenhaft Platz. Die zwei 14- jährigen Jungs freuten sich über je ein eigenes Zimmer mit grossem Bett und eigenem Bad.Die Betten waren sehr gut. Das Haus war ausgestattet mit allem, was man braucht.Toll fanden wir den grossen Esstisch plus extra ausziehbarem Spieletisch am Fenster. So konnten Spiele kurzzeitig unterbrochen werden, um zu essen.Die Fernsehsessel waren sehr bequem und der Zweiersessel mit hochklappbarem Fussteil war sehr begehrt.Die Lage ist wunderschön. Vor dem Fenster die grosse Weide für Schafe, das Pferd und ab und zu sind ein paar Hühner vorbeigelaufen. Sehr ruhig und idyllisch! Die "stables" waren früher tatsächlich Ställe für Pferde und Kühe. Alles wurde sehr gut umgestaltet und stilvoll eingerichtet. Das Haus hat Fussbodenheizung. Sicher ein Grund dafür, dass es nirgends muffelig roch ( was wir in anderen Cottages leider schon erlebt haben).Wir haben tolle Ausflüge in der Gegend unternommen. Von Portland, wo wir die Festung angeschaut haben und witzige Fotos als verkleidete Ritter machen konnten und alte Spiele, die schon Heinrich der 8. spielte, gespielt haben, dem Leuchtturm, den wir erklommen haben, bis nach Exeter. Sehr zu empfehlen ist die Wanderung von Beer, über Hooken Beach, vorbei am Sea shanty Beach Café nach Branscombe. Dort haben wir die alte Schmiede besichtigt. Die alte Bäckerei war leider geschlossen aber dort gibt es anscheinend den besten Tea mit clotted cream. Die Jurassic coast war immer ein tolles Ausflugsziel - stets auf der Suche nach tollen Steinen. Leider keine Ammoniten gefunden, nur Fragmente davon. Wir können dieses Haus sehr empfehlen.

We have just come back from a two week stay at The Stables. We had a lovely time x the cottage was everything we hoped it would be, very clean and spacious, very good wifi connection. Loved the horse, sheep and chickens. So relaxing. Will be back again soon. With tesco in Seaton just a short drive away we had everything we needed. We went out and about exploring a different town or beach everyday , we visited Devon, Dorset and even went into Cornwall to the Eden project. Thank you Mike for making us feel so welcome. Can’t wait to return.
