Guests say

Stockham Lodge is highly praised for its beautiful, peaceful setting and welcoming owners. Guests appreciate the well-equipped house, spacious rooms, and the added luxury of a hot tub and sauna. The rural charm and proximity to local attractions make it an ideal retreat. Some minor improvements are suggested, but overall, the experience is delightful and recommended for a relaxing stay.

The property is consistently described as clean and tidy, indicating high standards of cleanliness. No negative comments regarding cleanliness suggest guests are very satisfied.

The location is appreciated for its lovely rural setting and ease of access to seaside amenities and local towns. The peaceful surroundings and spectacular views contribute to a positive experience.

While most reviews highlight the spaciousness and amenities, there are some concerns about the comfort of the beds and the garden not being completely dog-proof, slightly affecting the comfort score.

Facilities like the hot tub, sauna, and well-equipped kitchen are well-received. However, suggestions for improvements such as a new frying pan, plastic glasses for the hot tub, and additional shade on the terrace are noted.

The owners are commended for their thoughtfulness, providing a welcome pack with homemade treats. While such gestures are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that these gifts may vary and are not guaranteed.

    Isolated but excellent

We were met by Nigel the owner upon arrival, who diligently showed us around and pointed out to us all we needed to know. His wife had made us some scones and homemade jam, there was also clotted cream and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge along with a bottle of milk, tea and coffee. All of which were much appreciated. The house was well equipped and there was everything that is needed for a large number of people. ( Except a tea cosy and a new frying pan) The house was spacious, underfloor heating was effective. The hot tub and sauna were much used and needed after a long day walking in the surrounding areas that we visited. Views were spectacular. I would have given the full 5 star review however half a star has not been given for the fact that we found two of the three double beds uncomfortable and had an uncomfortable sleep all week , and the other half a star is for the fact that the garden although lovely, was not entirely dog proof, the surrounding fields were filled with pheasants and our Wire haired Pointer if let loose in the garden would have thought it was Christmas and Birthday all in one and I think he would still be there now.) Overall it is a great place to stay with really nice owners and very friendly

Lovely rural location yet easy to get to seaside amenities etc.As a group of seven walking the SWCP we found this place was perfectly central for our Teignmouth to Seatown week’s walking. With the one car and local buses the daily logistics worked really well. The house itself was a good choice with excellent facilities. The hot tub and sauna, in particular, were first class. Great to come back to at the end of the day.Nice owner - very welcoming.
