Settled in the charming hamlet of Marsh Green in East Devon, Lower Marsh Barns is a contemporary conversion of a traditional courtyard of listed Devon barns into a splendid single seven-bedroom retreat. Offering a fantastic combination of comfort, style and convenience, whilst providing an ideal setting for a luxurious and memorable getaway in East Devon, Lower Marsh Barns is perfect for families or large groups looking to escape from it all.Based all on one level, the property boasts everything you need to enjoy a calm and care-free stay. Set around a private courtyard, there is parking for six cars with two electric car chargers and level access to the front door.The courtyard provides a relaxing space to sit and have a cup of coffee. A generous hallway provides space for boots and coats, leading to two vaulted, beamed communal areas. The first of these provides a large open plan kitchen, dining and lounging area, ideal for relaxed entertaining or more formal dinners.

The kitchen, set around a sociable island, is fully equipped with a four oven electric Rangemaster with five ring induction hob, microwave, American fridge-freezer, Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine and two dishwashers. Dining for 14 is around a hand-crafted wooden table under exposed beams. During the day, the space is light and airy with full height windows on one side and bi-fold doors on the other leading to the courtyard. At night, bespoke lighting creates an atmospheric space for dining. The open plan area also includes a cosy sitting area with a log effect electric inset fire, ideal for pre or post-dinner drinks.The media wall also gives access to a 65 inch TV and Sonos soundbar for communal entertainment. Alternatively, relax and chat in the calm and airy sitting room with full height windows to both the courtyard and the garden, or curl up and watch a film or read in the cosy snug.

Double glazed doors lead out from the sitting room onto a large natural stone terrace with ample space for alfresco dining. Adjacent to the terrace is a relaxed seating area with L-shaped sofa and chairs overlooking the lawned garden. Whilst the garden is gated, visitors are welcome to walk through the wild area towards the small, meandering stream, great fun for kids to splash about with wellies and a fishing net. When day rolls into night, retreat into one of seven elegantly presented en-suite bedrooms.Sink into a choice of super-king-size, king-size, twin or bunk beds, catching your well-earned rest in preparation for another exciting day of adventures. The bedroom accommodation is well laid out, 4 of the bedrooms are positioned together in one wing of the house, another 2 bedrooms are grouped together in a second wing, and the final bedroom is accessed from the hallway which leads to the garden. When you’re ready to explore, you’ll find village stores at West Hill (1.6 miles), Whimple (3.7 miles) or a wider range of independent shops and supermarket at Ottery St Mary (4.5 miles). A choice of award-winning farm shops is within a short drive. Celebrate East Devon’s vibrant food scene by sampling excellent local pubs and restaurants or just pick up fish and chips to eat on one of the many local beaches. Take advantage of the picturesque countryside surroundings by embarking on a leisurely stroll or bike ride, uncover a variety of trails and paths whilst soaking in the beautiful views of lush greenery and rolling countryside. Discover the endearing village of Whimple amidst the countryside setting of East Devon, resting east of the bustling city of Exeter. Within the village, you will be delighted to find The Thirsty Farmer pub/restaurant, a Post Office, a shop for the essentials and the Whimple Heritage Centre, so that you can brush up on the local history. Ottery St Mary is less than five miles away, home to the parish church of St. Mary, which is a scaled-down version of Exeter Cathedral and is a breath-taking sight. The town also plays host to a larger number of amenities, as well as the River Otter for enjoying gentle strolls. If you are visiting in June, be sure to attend the unusual event of Pixie Day and the Ottery St Mary Tar Barrels, where men shouldering flaming tar barrels run through packed crowds! The small city of Exeter is also well-worth a visit, home to an impressive Cathedral, beautiful Quayside and Roman wall. Attractions here include the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and the Crealy Great Adventure Park, in addition to its great retail therapy opportunities.     Kitchen well equipped, very clean and is in a good locality to visit nearby places. Fantastic communal areas. I would say it suits all generations but feel it could probably benefit from some hand rails in at least one bedroom. One of our party was quite elderly and could have done with the support.

    Everything is top quality the pics on the website don't do it justice.We were lucky to have great weather so we had a barbecue in the lovely garden.What a find,we will be going back next year.
