About this property

Primrose Cottage a pretty thatched, detached Grade II listed cottage in the heart of the Dartmoor village of Drewsteignton, beside the lovely churchyard. With bags of charm and traditional features including low ceilings and doorways and white walls, this is a charming base for families or couples to enjoy the Devon countryside. The hall leads you through to the inviting sitting room with its beams and open fire. From here, you have the option of taking a few steps down to a quiet room. The kitchen has a modern electric AGA, with hot plate and induction hob as well as the dining area. Steep stairs head up to the two bedrooms, the double a romantic double-aspect room with lofty ceiling, plus a bathroom. Your little enclosed garden at the front with table and chairs on the patio is the perfect place to watch sleepy village life go by and enjoy morning coffee with the papers. The village is surrounded by great footpaths for walking, mostly leading into the wooded River Teign valley where you may spot deer, salmon leaping and other wildlife. The village itself offers a traditional pub and there is another pub nearby at Fingle Bridge. The local church has a pop-up shop which is open 8am to 8pm, selling non-perishable items and essentials. The open expanses of Dartmoor invite you to explore on foot or by car or bike, or head to Exeter with its city amenities including theatres and restaurants. Perfectly located for taking in spectacular countryside, Primrose Cottage is a homely and welcoming base.

The location is ideal for visiting Drewsteignton and Dartmoor. The property has all creature comforts for a relaxing stay and Elizabeth’s attention to detail and additional treats such as the lemon drizzle cake make it extra special.

The walk from the village to fingle Bridge was easy once we found the path. Would not recommend walking on the road as too narrow. Castle Drogo and the grounds again a walk away, is a must visit. Both theses locations are accessible by car and only 5 mins away from cottage for those not wanting to walk. We would certainly go back to this location and cottage.
