About this property

Starcross 1 mile. Situated in a picturesque part of the south Devon coast, in the small village of Cockwood, a mile from Starcross, is this charming detached bungalow, Tideways. Aptly named due to the property's stunning views over the estuary and across to Exmouth, choosing to holiday here gives you a real sense of a tranquil escape. Find a restored kitchen wonderfully appointed to the front, with views of the estuary. Here you can enjoy a hearty breakfast on the dining furniture, or venture into the larger dining room and dine together as a family with those magnificent views as your backdrop. Walk through to the large sitting room which features bi-folding doors which also overlooks the estuary across to Exmouth and open out to patio terrace where you can look forward to dining alfresco during the summer months. While away a few hours with your favourite shows on the Smart TV, or catch up on the day's events. From here, you will find a delightful sun room which is perfect for those looking for some quiet time to indulge in some reading. Choose from three well-presented bedrooms, set up as a double and two twins which all have views over the well-manicured gardens. The master bedroom benefits from its own en-suite shower room so there's no fighting over the facilities of a morning, as well as a further family shower room and handy cloakroom to serve. A well-groomed garden surrounds the property from all angles and includes a patio terrace and some lawned areas for the warmer months and letting your pets stretch their legs. The neighbouring village of Starcross is equipped with a local store to grab the necessities during your stay and any ingredients for some home-cooking, or choose to dine out at one of the endless pubs or restaurants within ten miles of the property. The property is perfectly placed for accessing an abundance of things to do; jump on the ferry and ride across to the picturesque seaside town of Exmouth. At the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, you will have access to two miles' worth of glorious beaches and the South West Coast Path, hugely popular for walking and cycling. For something a little more adventurous, join the Exe Estuary cycle trail which runs across to Dawlish beach (1.5 miles away), or get involved in a variety of watersporting activities at the coast such as kite surfing, kayaking and windsurfing. Further afield is the charming city of Exeter where you can look forward to exploring the Royal Albert Museum and Art Gallery for a spot of culture, as well as Exeter Cathedral and the 14th century Underground Passages. If you're an animal lover, venture towards the Devon Wildlife Trust and spot all the exotic animals on site, or enjoy a day trip at The Quay Climbing Centre, something your little ones will delight in. Tideways is ideal for families to enjoy the village and explore the local area.

Lots of room to spread out and relax and take in the breathtaking ever changing view of the Exe estuary. This comfy and well kept bungalow is an amazing base from which to explore all that South Devon and Dartmoor has to offer. After a long day exploring it’s the perfect home to come back to and chill whilst the sun sets. The garden is huge which is perfect for the kids and four legged friends. We love this place so much we booked for next year after only been here for a day. We keep coming back year after year and never tire of this lovely house and it’s beautiful location.
