Westacombe Farmhouse is a detached, Grade-II listed, characterful holiday home set within the Dartmoor National Park. Set close to Clifford Bridge with its delightful walks and woodlands it offers a peaceful setting for families or groups of friends looking to enjoy a Devon break. Well-suited to group stays, the property benefits from flexible zip/link bedrooms and a variety of shared spaces designed for comfort and ease. Inside, the farmhouse-style kitchen is well equipped for preparing filling breakfasts or relaxed evening meals, with the adjoining dining room providing plenty of space to gather together and plan the day ahead. The main sitting room offers a comfortable place to settle in after a day out, and offers a smart TV for cosy evenings in.
From here you can climb up the steep stairs to the primary family bedroom, the stairs are not suitable for very young guests and those with limited mobility. The sleeping accommodation is thoughtfully arranged, comprising three inviting bedrooms. These include the primary bedroom, with a zip link superking, plus added single with trundle below, and a useful WC, and two further bedrooms both of which can be arranged as a twin or zipped together. One has an en-suite walk-in shower, the other has access to the jack and jill family bathroom. The two final bedrooms are accessed via a second standard (but steep) set stairs at the other end of the house.
The Jack-and-Jill bathroom with a freestanding bath and walk-in shower completes the interior, along with a handy external cloakroom on the ground floor. Outside, guests can enjoy an enclosed front garden with a patio area and outdoor furniture, perfect for relaxed meals in the open air or enjoying a coffee while taking in the countryside views. Off-road parking is available for up to three cars, adding further convenience. The nearby village of Dunsford offers some local amenities, while the surrounding area is dotted with scenic walking routes and attractive rural villages with great local pubs. The National Park provides dramatic landscapes, riverside walks and opportunities for cycling and wildlife spotting.
Undercover bike storage is available for guests. The cathedral city of Exeter is also a short drive away, offering historic streets, shopping, restaurants and riverside paths along the Exe. Further afield, visit Chagford, Moretonhampstead or the Teign Valley for days out exploring traditional Devon towns and countryside. Westacombe Farmhouse provides a welcoming base for discovering Devon’s landscapes, villages and outdoor pursuits, making it a rewarding choice for a countryside escape.
Tedburn St Mary lies amidst the rural charm of inland Devon, just 3 miles from the stunning Dartmoor National Park and 7.5 miles west of the cathedral city of Exeter. The main streets of this award-winning village are lined with traditional thatched cottages, two good pubs, with The King's Arms Inn dating back to the early 1600s, and a well-stocked shop. Tedburn St Mary also offers the Tedburn Fair, held every September, stone-built cottages, a Methodist church built in 1930, a Methodist school room, which dates back from 1859, an 18-hole golf course and a monthly farmers' market. Close by is Dartmoor National Park, which is home to the Dartmoor pony and offers excellent walking, pony riding, golfing and pretty villages that are scattered amongst the dramatic landscape, plus the area has become an inspiration to many artists and writers. The city of Exeter is within driving distance and boasts beautiful architecture, theatre productions and plenty of shops, eateries and cinemas.
