There is plenty to do without having to stray far from the cottage; stroll along Heddon River to Heddon's Mouth Beach and bask in the sun, before venturing to the close-by Hunter's Inn for a delicious lunch as you spot the resident peacocks! Spend the day in Combe Martin and find the rest of your amenities, before getting up close to the animals in the local Wildlife & Dinosaur Park or sunbathe on the town's handful of beaches; if you're an excursion-lover, be sure to take advantage of the town's extensive walking trails, including West Country Walks's hiking area. Head to the picturesque Lynton where you can take a ride on the water-operated cliff railway to the charming harbour at Lynmouth, where the views en-route are truly breathtaking. You may wish to walk to the spectacular setting of the Valley of Rocks, which is about a mile walk from Lynton. Make the most of your location in Exmoor National Park and balance on the ancient Cross Tarr Steps, visit the quaint Working Watermill, and climb up to the highest point of Somerset, Dunkery Beacon. Discover activities along Devon’s coast in Ilfracombe, where you can enjoy a game of putty at the beachside golf course, trek to the observation deck of Capstone Hill, and view the aquatic wildlife in the Ilfracombe Aquarium. Head further inland to Barnstaple where riverside activities await you or walk the South West Coastal Path to discover more landmarks and picturesque settlements on Devon’s shores.
