About this property

Sitting just behind the Manor House, which is mentioned in the Domesday Book, The Lower Mill House is a historical hidden gem, offering an unforgettable experience staying in a 19th Century mill house. Now lovingly restored to a self-catering holiday home for six, the cottage obtains its original workings and mine shaft for milling flour in the cellar. Cook up a feast in the rustic kitchen which has a woodburner or pass the time with a jigsaw puzzle in this home-away-from-home. History lovers will also spot clues to its former use in the quaint courtyard, site of the old leat & mill wheel and the perfect place for barbecues, as well as the large stone-arched living room that once formed the old mill’s loading bay. The accommodation is conveniently arranged all on one level and offers a generous living space perfect for friends and family to get together. There’s a spacious lounge and a large open-plan kitchen and dining area with woodburning stove. A beautiful double bedroom and en-suite sits towards the back of the property, looking out onto the enclosed patio. Towards the front, there is an inviting family room that can sleep up to four adults or host a young family. This has access to a family bathroom with washing machine and dryer. Make use a variety of on-site amenities, such as the community communal games room, the heated indoor pool, gym, sauna, grass tennis court and stunning gardens. A historic holiday cottage in South Devon, choose the Lower Mill for your next family retreat. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 1128246, 1130112, 1130120, 1130123 & 1130126, together sleeping up to 32 guests.

Dittisham, a charming village in the South Hams situated on the banks of the River Dart and surrounded by open farmland, is a popular tourist destination. Walk till you reach the waterfront amid the peaceful alleyways surrounded with charming stone homes and lush gardens. The quayside in Dittisham is frequently thought of as the centre of the community. Visit the Anchorside Café for breakfast and enjoy the breathtaking views of the river. On the dinghy pontoon, try your hand at some crab-catching with the youngsters. Go to the well-known pink Ferry Boat Hotel (or FBI as it is known locally). Reaching Greenway, the former summer home of the legendary Agatha Christie, requires ringing the ferry bell and crossing the Dart. There are several attractive treks and sailing courses available for outdoor recreation. Only a short drive or ferry ride away, the harbour town of Dartmouth has a variety of stores, a movie theatre, many of dining options, and even a castle. If you travel farther afield, there are many wonderful beaches to visit, including Blackpool and Slapton Sands, as well as popular cities like Salcombe, Totnes, and Brixham.
