About this property

Resting right at the head of Frogmore Creek in Devon is this wonderful, single-storey cottage, Creekside. With three bedrooms sleeping up to six guests and excellent amenities, this cottage is a perfect base for a memorable holiday in this stunning part of the South Hams in Devon, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With off-road parking for two cars, you will have no problem getting settled in at Creekside; enter the front gate into the property's enclosed, lawn garden and follow the gravelled path to the entrance, where you can leave your boots and coats, or dry off the dog, in the tiled porch. Ideal for self-catering holidays, Creekside has a well-equipped galley-style kitchen/diner with a gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, plenty of storage space and a pantry, as well as comfortable dining seating for four guests (6 at a pinch), with views out across the creek. Walking along dramatic coastlines and in the elements calls for an evening by the open log fire in the sitting room, with sofas and comfy chairs to curl up on, and a Smart TV to stream your family's favourite movie. Large bifold doors lead out onto the decking and give fantastic views down the tidal creek. A handy external utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer means you can pack light and not worry about muddy walks. There’s even a cold water shower outside for the dog! Younger guests can make use of 'The Piggery', a rustic games room for somewhere to play on rainy days. You will find three lovely bedrooms with pleasant views across the creek and storage space, the first being a king-size with a convenient en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower over, another king-size, and a twin. The whole family can make use of the stylish bathroom, offering a large bath and a rainfall shower head to stand under and enjoy a hot morning shower, followed by a toasty towel fresh off the heated towel rail. A lawn area surrounds Creekside with plants, shrubbery and an apple tree, whilst the rear decking just off the sitting room has a picnic bench for dining alfresco, or a cocktail while you watch the sun go down over the creek. The deck overhangs the spectacular Frogmore creek which is tidal, and Creekside has (gated) private steps down into it. You can launch your own canoes or paddle boards from here, or your dinghy from the public slipway which is just 30 metres away. Or try fishing or crabbing. Or enjoy this AONB with a walk along the creek at low tide to investigate the bird life and old lime kilns on its shores. You might be lucky and see a seal. Walking over the bridge into the village you'll find a fantastic bakery, a traditional pub perfect for dinners out, and Frogmore's family-focused annual regatta in August. Keen walkers will find lots of variety in the area. Creekside places you in a great location for Devon's outstanding beaches, so be sure to pack a picnic and head to Torcross, Mill Bay, Gara Rock or Bantham or to swim or surf. The bustling old town of Kingsbridge is just a short drive west, with a variety of restaurants, pubs and shops to explore, or learn to paddle board at the local school. Salcombe lies to the south with a lovely harbour, sandy beaches to stroll along, and a cool vibe. The coastal walk to Bolt Head is a must for avid walkers. Travelling north takes you to Dartmouth, a thriving town with high streets packed with shops and eateries, as well as art galleries, and local museums. The Dartmouth Steam Railway can take you to Paignton or Kingswear near Agatha Christie’s home at Greenway. There are several National Trust properties to see in the area. Make Creekside your tranquil base to explore the coast, villages and landscapes of Devon with your family or friends.

The picturesque village of Frogmore, located at the mouth of Frogmore Creek, is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is only three miles from the charming market town of Kingsbridge and a 10-minute drive from Slapton Sands, making it an ideal holiday destination for those seeking peace and quiet while still being close to a variety of attractions. Walking along the water's edge from Frogmore to West Charleton is an excellent opportunity to see the creek before moving inland and north through West Charleton. This charming community is noted for its superb bakery, traditional tavern, picturesque creek, and, probably most importantly, its annual regatta in August, which is geared toward families.

Whole process from booking to leaving was easy. Cottage is lovely, amazing views in a beautiful and quiet location. Unfortunately didn't have the weather to fully enjoy the garden and decking, but was ideal for our dog who loved it and was totally secure. We really appreciated the hard work that had been put into the information pack and leaflets left. Great selection of games to play and nice to have the Smart TV and the Piggery. There is absolutely everything you could need here and it is a nice spacious cottage. Very dog friendly. Lovely to have the small touches like some flowers on arrival and tea/coffee. The heating system was good as it was very cosy especially during the storm. Nice bedding and towels. The beds weren't comfortable for me personally and were awkward to make with that type of frame and feel perhaps the bedrooms and bathrooms could do with a freshen up, but that was minor and would not put me off returning. Overall loved it, exceeded expectations as photos do not do justice and will be recommending.

However the listing states two kingsize beds, but they are both only doubles. My husband is 6 feet tall and had very uncomfortable nights, especially as both beds have foot boards too. Also the cottage would benefit from a thorough deep clean. The owners also need to look at the remote control for the dvd player (which we eventually found behind one of the cupboards) . Despite putting new batteries in, it still didn't work. A shame as there is a huge selection of films to choose from. Other than that it is well equipped and beautifully located.

The pictures do not do it justice at all, it is a stunning area with beautiful views across the creek . The bungalow is fully equipped with everything you could need including a great selection of games for the rainy days. The dog loved the garden and sitting on the decking watching the world pass her by. The only thing we would have changed is the length of our stay so we have just booked for 7 nights next year .
