Mallard Cottage in Totnes, Devon, is praised for its peaceful setting, stunning views, and proximity to water and local pubs. Guests appreciate the well-equipped, cosy, and comfortable accommodation, though some mention issues with Wi-Fi, creaky floors, and waste disposal. The location is ideal for nature lovers and those seeking tranquillity. The presence of a pub next door adds convenience without disturbing the peace. Cleanliness is generally well-regarded, and the property is considered a good choice for a relaxing getaway.
The property is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with several guests noting its spotless condition upon arrival. Positive remarks about the helpful and polite cleaning staff further support a high cleanliness score.
The location is highly praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and proximity to nature, with many guests enjoying the views and wildlife. The nearby pubs and towns add to the appeal, making the location ideal for a peaceful retreat.
Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with ample storage and a homely feel. However, some guests experienced issues with creaky floors and doors, which were particularly problematic for those with infants. The comfort of the seating and the condition of the toilet seats were also mentioned as areas for improvement.
The property is well-equipped according to several reviews, but there are comments about the need for maintenance and updates, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom. Issues with low shower pressure, heating, and the need for clearer instructions for appliances are noted.
While some guests mention the lack of a welcome pack and the need to bring certain supplies, there is not enough consistent information across the reviews to accurately assess the thoughtfulness of the hosts in terms of providing gifts or additional amenities.

Ideal for kayaing etc . Cleanliness is good but the property is very tired needing maintenance and redecoration .One of the most annoying issues was the broken toilet seat. We have stayed in many Sykes properties but this is the first one with no welcome pack or useful domestic items ie not even 1 dishwasher tablet. If this was a budget property then this is not an issue but this property is quite expensive and I would expected better and consider it poor value for the rental cost.

Storage heaters good but not all worked only main bedroom and lounge ok. ..mobile signal poor to use sat nav . Shame as nicely situated by river loverly to see wild life both local pubs good for food and relaxation.

I have already booked again! The apartment itself has everything you need. It is spotlessly clean and comfortable with great views to watch the wildlife even when weather is bad.
