This pretty, thatched cottage is tucked away on the edge of the picturesque Devon village of Drewsteignton, inside the Dartmoor National Park. One of three lovely cottages hidden from the lane, it is brilliantly peaceful. From the garden, you step into a big kitchen with dining area, and from there through an arch into a lovely cosy sitting room with electric stove. In traditional style, two separate staircases lead you upstairs, one to two bedrooms with a bathroom, the other to two more bedrooms with shower room. The two upstairs spaces don't connect, so are handily private for two families or couples.
The lawn garden is charming, enclosed by high walls and with loungers and table and chairs for relaxing in the sun. This is a lovely area for walking from the cottage, with footpaths criss crossing through woodland and beside the River Teign. Enjoy drinks or a meal in the village square (5 minutes walk) at The Drewe Arms Community Pub (just won Camra Heritage Pub of the Year) or walk down to the beauty spot Fingle Bridge and have lunch on the river at the Fingle Inn (5 mins drive), National Trust Castle Drogo (6 mins drive), Drakes Farm shop (milk, bread, meats etc- 3 mins drive), Cheriton Bishop Convenience shop (mini super - 7 mins drive) Browse the interesting little shops in Chagford or head for city thrills in the cathedral city of Exeter, just 14 miles away.
Michaelmas Cottage is a peaceful place for a relaxing break or Devon walks.
Drewsteignton sits high above the River Teign as it meanders through a spectacular steep wooded Teign Gorge. It is a chocolate box village with a cluster of ancient cob and thatched cottages surrounding a square, complete with ancient church.

Lovely cake and fresh eggs on arrival was a nice touch and the instructions are clear for everything. My son was particularly pleased to have his own shower room. The village is small but has a lovely church and the Drewe Arms is a brilliant pub. We only visited once but wish we had done so earlier in the week. The beer is excellent and so is the food. The locals make you feel very welcome too! All in all, a lovely relaxing week, but if you plan doing any cycling around this area make sure you put some suitable gearing on your bike. It is quite hilly!

Fantastic enclosed garden, very dog friendly. Full facilities, plenty of information on what to do in the local area and lots of dog walk options direct from front door.

Very clean and tidy on arrival. The welcome basket was lovely, it contained eggs, milk, and a lemon drizzle sponge cake, but in addition to the human welcome pack, there was a dog one as well! A first for us where as at some properties we've not even had milk for a cuppa on arrival. Drewsteignton is a lovely little village with a really good feel about it especially at the village pub which is communnity run. Overall, I can understand why people return to Michealmas I'm already trying to fit another week in.
