Set in the heart of rolling Devon countryside, the privately owned Ashcombe Estate in a quiet, beautiful valleys filled with things to do. Walk around the estate’s hills and woodlands, swim in the heated indoor swimming pool, or relax in the sauna at Woodhouse Farm while children play at the outdoor playground. The Ashcombe Shooting Ground is within a mile and offers at an extra cost clay pigeon shooting (for beginners and experts), quad bike safaris and an 86 metre slip ‘n slide.
Also located on the estate is a children’s forest activity club. Activities include bush-craft courses, campfire cooking, toasting marshmallows, bug hunting and learning woodland skills all supervised by experienced staff.
Ashcombe Village Club open on various evenings provides a bar, a cheerful atmosphere, event evenings, a traditional summer fête and shows throughout the year. Guests at Ashcombe can discover the simple pleasure of two-hour foraging walks, foraging from the abundance of wild foods in the countryside.
Dartmoor National Park and the city of Exeter are a 20-minute drive away, while the South Devon Coast, with wonderful sandy beaches, is barely 3 miles. Exeter and Newton Abbot Racecourses, golf courses, family theme parks, zoos, sailing and fishing are all within easy reach, plus excellent pubs and restaurants that Devon is famous for. Walk in the beauty of Dartmoor with its abundance of wildlife or visit the numerous National Trust properties.
Visit historic Dartmouth with bustling boat harbour, castle, art galleries, boutiques and brilliant Regatta Week. Salcombe with its beaches, sailing and water sports is easily accessible, as are Blackpool Sands, Slapton and picturesque Dittisham. Further afield, East Cornwall and the Eden Project are within an hour’s drive. Other activities include Coasteering to explore the Jurassic coastline.
Ashcombe is an excellent base from which to explore, experience and enjoy ‘The Cream of Devon’.

Great weekend celebrating my mums 60th birthday. Perfect for large groups with every bedroom having an en-suite.Plenty of room so the 23 of us didn’t feel on top of each other. Games room and swimming pool added bonuses. Would definitely recommend. Great communication for the team too.

Family birthday celebrations ages from 79 to 2 (18 of us in total)We had the best time , fantastic cottage plenty of room , kitchen fantastic everything you could want . It was in February so couldn't comment on all facilities as not used . But we all certainly would love to go back in warmer months .

The mattresses were very noisy and creaky with the springs, but the bedding was lovely and cuddly and soft. The total lack of mobile phone signal was a big issue as although good wifi in the property as soon as you went outside, or up to the pool / games area you lost contact with everyone. Great amount of parking. A light above the bins would be useful as in winter was dark early and nothing over there that allowed you to see and hands full carrying bags couldn't also hold a torch. Coat stand and shoe rack in the dining room area would be really useful as this was the main entrance used and we ended up with 24 pairs of shoes and coats all over the floor and sofas as nowhere to put anything. and we didn't want to walk through the house to the other entrances nor did we want to issue all the sets of keys. Lots of cutlery and stuff in the kitchen, only thing that would be useful which we couldn't find was a flat spatula like serving item so we could dish up lasagne or a slice of pizza without them falling off. Great to have 2 dishwashers and fridges and freezers, we used all of it. Lovely to have the woodburner and plenty of wood, we made full use of that too!An estate plan / map on the booking website would be good, as we had not appreciated how far we would be from the pool and games area nor that it would be such a steep walk from the accommodation to get there. We had a great time and there was plenty of space. Thank you
