Oak Apple Cottage in Devon is a spacious and well-equipped property on a working farm, offering a warm welcome with thoughtful touches like cakes and eggs. It's ideal for exploring Devon, with a farm shop and the option of on-site meals. While some guests mentioned minor issues with comfort and maintenance, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.
The property is generally praised for its cleanliness, with several guests describing it as clean and tidy. However, a few guests noted the presence of dog hairs and suggested the floors could benefit from a more thorough cleaning.
The location is appreciated for its proximity to local attractions and the countryside, making it a good base for exploring Devon. Some guests, however, felt that the working farm environment might not suit those seeking complete tranquillity.
The property is recognised for its spaciousness and underfloor heating. Nonetheless, several guests found the mattresses too soft or uncomfortable, and the twin beds on wheels were noted as inconvenient.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-stocked kitchen and ample bathrooms. Criticisms include overgrown gardens, shared swimming pool concerns, and suggestions for more secure areas for pets. The fishing facilities received mixed reviews.
Guests frequently mentioned and appreciated the welcoming touches such as cakes, eggs, and other provisions. It should be noted that while these gestures are warmly received, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

Please be aware though that when booking through Sykes they will accept your booking on your requested dates then change them to the next available dates without letting you know. There is no notification that this is their policy. I am now out of pocket as a result of this and their staff members, while admitting this is their default policy, have refused to accept responsibility or offer a rebate. I will never book through Sykes again.

Could have done with a bit more crockery. Change of sheets and towels would have also have been good, given this was a 12 night stay. Photo in HH showing pool adjacent to lawn is not correct as a fence has now been built enclosing pool. Pool nice and warm, appreciated the field kitchen and also the onsite car charging facility. We would recommend the property.
