About this property

Hartland 3.2 miles. Settled on the idyllic Hartland Peninsula in a remote position a few miles from the amenities of Hartland, in Devon, is this idyllic farmhouse, Puffin House. Occupying one wing of a 17th century fortified farmhouse, whilst enjoying miles of walks available from the door, Puffin House is an excellent escape for a family of six and their canine companion, looking to spend a week away in Devon. On entering the property, guests come first to the spacious hallway with its attractive tiled floor and a small desk, perfect if guests need to catch up with emails whilst on holiday. A door from the hallway leads to the lounge, complete with sofas, throws, a TV with DVD player and an alluring woodburner-effect electric fire, creating a homely atmosphere to help you wind down. Move into the spacious kitchen/diner, offering a mix of old and new, including a range electric cooker set in an inglenook fireplace, well-equipped for preparing your own meals. Stairs from the hallway lead to a light-filled landing with a host of books, perfect for when you fancy escaping for a good read. The bedrooms sit upstairs and include the master with king-size bed and en-suite shower, a king-size and a twin, each neutrally presented. Completing the interior of this sumptuous abode is the family bathroom, inviting you for a lazy soak in the roll-top bath, whilst there’s also a walk-in shower. On those balmy days, head outside and make the most of the courtyard, featuring a large hot tub with space for 6 people, a woodfired pizza oven and garden furniture; what more could you ask for? There is also handy area which can be used for washing bikes, dogs, surfboards and wellies. Within a mile there is a secluded beach, so remember to pack your swim wear, buckets and spades! This unspoilt area of North Devon is known for its dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and selection of expansive sandy beaches such as Westward Ho! and Bude. Join the scenic South West Coast Path for stunning walks and breathtaking scenery before looping back round to the village of Hartland and stopping to eat at one of the local pubs or eateries. Escape to this scenic corner of Devon with a break at Puffin House.

The village of Hartland, whose parish includes the hamlet of Stoke to the west and the village of Meddon in the south, is the most northwesterly settlement in the county of Devon, England. The town of Hartland is remote and hosts many craft shops and potteries in addition to cafés and restaurants. There is a long main street, with cottages either side, leading to the town square and the church of St John. Enjoy views of the coastline in the British Isles from Hartland Point. There are many vantage points, accessible by car or on foot, from which you can admire views of the coast. Not far away is Hartland Quay, with much to see and available accommodation. A local Shipwreck Museum is certainly worth a visit.
