Guests say

The Old Barn is a spacious, characterful cottage in a peaceful location, ideal for exploring North Devon and Cornwall. Guests appreciate its authentic charm, well-equipped interior, and welcoming atmosphere, with many noting how comfortable and homely it feels. The garden is enclosed and suitable for dogs, and the property is well-suited for families. Some minor maintenance and cleaning issues were mentioned, and a few guests found the location a little remote for walking to amenities. Overall, the cottage offers a relaxing and memorable stay with easy access to local attractions.

Most guests found the property clean and tidy, though a few noted missed details such as uncleaned wall hangings, leftover food in the oven, and stained towels. Overall, cleanliness is generally good but could benefit from more attention to detail.

The cottage is praised for its peaceful setting and proximity by car to Bideford and local attractions. However, it is not within walking distance of pubs or shops, which some guests found inconvenient.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable, spacious, and homely, with a cosy atmosphere. Some mention low ceilings and steps, which may be a consideration for those with mobility issues.

The property is well-equipped and suitable for families, but some facilities could use updating. Issues mentioned include a faulty shower, extractor hood, TV, and very hot water. Parking can be tight for two cars.

The owner is described as pleasant and caring, and thoughtful touches such as a strategically placed duck to prevent bumped heads were appreciated. While some guests enjoyed picking apples from the garden, please note that such gestures are not guaranteed.

What a fantastic cottage. My husband our dog and I stayed for a week, from the moment you walk through the door we felt like we had come home. The cottage just opens its walls wide and welcomes you in. There was everything that you could possibly need, and it was pristinely clean. From the outside it looks tiny but it’s like the tardis and just keeps going. It is quiet, which is what we needed. But, equally it is just a five to ten minute drive away from wherever you want to be. I hope you don’t mind but we scrumped a couple of your apples and had an apple crumble. Huge thank you loads of memories made with our boy and totally refreshed going home.
