Site Description
Willow Bay Country Park, in North Cornwall, is a fantastic location for those wishing for a coastal break and also for anyone wanting a base from which to explore the many delights of Cornwall or Devon. The beautiful park is just a short drive from the sea where you can park and pick up a coastal path walk that goes on for miles and miles. Close by is Widemouth Bay, with its stretch of famous golden sand, or you can venture a few short miles to Crackington Haven, another popular beach with cliff top walks. Local towns close to the park include Holsworthy and Bude, which have several supermarkets and there are plenty of charming Cornish villages dotted around.

We had a lovely stay at Willow Park but unfortunately there were a few things that let the lodge down. The beds were very uncomfortable as the mattress was thin and you could feel the springs in your back. The lodge wasn’t cleaned to the best it could of been, there were hairs still left in the shower from the previous people and dust all on the floors. There was also dead bugs over the window sills and ceilings. The main bathroom the shower that holds the hose was broken so we all had to use the shower on the en-suite. The walls were also marked quite badly with scuff marks which could be re-painted.The hot tub was fantastic but for the amount we paid for for the weekend it was a bit disappointing that things weren’t done to a high standard in the lodge. We weren’t allowed to check in till 5pm and had to check out by 9am so this reduced the time of our holiday as this was to allow extra cleaning because of coronavirus yet the lodge was still filthy in parts as of it hadn’t be cleaner in these areas for some time.We would love to visit again if these changes have been made.

The lodge was decorated nicely however all fixtures and fittings looked tired and some were not working properly, we were made aware before our visit that the washing machine and the light switch for the main bathroom were not operational and although this wasn't a problem, the overall look and feel of the lodge was that it needed maintenance all over. The flooring in the kitchen was warped, there was damp signs in the bathrooms. The hot tub was nice, however was looking out onto a burnt down lodge - which cannot be helped however effort could be made to maybe put up a screen around the balcony area so instead of looking out onto the park you have privacy. The park was quiet and had a nice woodland area which we enjoyed walking in. The aspect of the lodge that requires immediate attention is the bed, we were unable to sleep on it throughout the stay and had to sleep on the two sofas in the living room. It is very hard, with loud springs and is in need of replacement as soon as possible. We left the lodge a day early as we were not satisfied with the comfort of the lodge or the facilities.
