A further eight uneven steps lead down to the entrance. A paddock is available for walking dogs, and there is storage for bicycles. Inside, the cottage combines simplicity with sophistication, featuring limestone floors downstairs and wood flooring upstairs. The spacious, light-filled, open-plan living/dining/kitchen area is well-appointed with a dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric oven, and induction hob, all housed in handcrafted cupboards. The space also includes a woodburning stove, a TV with a Blu-ray player, and glazed double doors on either side—one offering views of the garden and the other opening onto a patio/decked area with lovely, long, wooded rural views. From the living area, two staircases lead to different parts of the home: one ascends to a mezzanine single bedroom with a table football and games, while the other descends to two additional bedrooms. These include a king-size bedroom with storage and TV and a king-size (zip/link) bedroom with storage. The lower-ground-floor level also features a beautifully-presented bathroom with a roll-top, freestanding bath and a walk-in shower, a utility room (with a washing machine and tumble dryer) that opens to a garden via eight steps, and a small shower room with a corner walk-in shower. The cottage sleeps a maximum of four adults and one child. Brilliantly designed, it is highly recommended and conveniently located near excellent cycling routes and walking paths. Yelverton situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of Dartmoor, offers churches, pubs, shops, a post office, golf, tennis/badminton, and horse riding. Nearby attractions include the 13th-century Buckland Abbey, once home to Sir Francis Drake (now managed by the National Trust), and the enchanting Garden House gardens, both within 2 miles. Tavistock is a short drive away, while Plymouth, with its theatres, cinemas, shops, aquarium, watersports, and National Trust property Saltram House, is just a little further. The pretty village of Yelverton makes a perfect base for exploring Dartmoor with excellent walking and cycling routes in the area. The 21 mile-long cycling and walking route Drakes trail, runs through the village and links nearby Tavistock and Plymouth passing through wooded valleys and open moorland. It is also possible to hire bikes in the village. There are several eating places around Yelverton including The Drake Manor Inn and The Royal Oak which provide a warm welcome and superb locally sourced food. Nearby attractions include Buckland Abbey, The Garden House and Burrator Reservoir. The South Devon coast is within easy reach for day trips to Salcombe and the pretty riverside village of Newton Ferrers. The Naval port of Plymouth can also be easily reached, famous for its maritime heritage and the historic Barbican district its narrow, cobbled streets lined with a fine selection of restaurants and bars.
