About this property

Whitelady House is a beautiful period property in a fantastic location next to Lydford Gorge and the Whitelady Waterfall. The owners have carefully restored it to the highest standard, offering luxurious accommodation for up to 12 guests in six bedrooms. The is perfect for families and friends, with its easy access to wonderful footpaths, bridleways, cycling trails and the untamed wilderness of the Dartmoor National Park. Talk to the owners if you are celebrating a special event as they can assist with catering and arranging activities either on site or in the local area.

Whitelady House gives guests access to some of the most breathtaking scenery in South West England. The former farmhouse is in a quiet rural location on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and only six miles from Tavistock. It dates back to the 1600s and has been carefully modernised to provide a high standard of accommodation for up to 12 guests in six bedrooms. There is a village with two friendly pubs just two miles from the house.

The house's name comes from the nearby Whitelady Waterfall in Lydford Gorge. It adjoins the National Trust property that includes the impressive Devil's Cauldron whirlpool where the walk is beautiful in any season (although the water spray can make the path slippery so sturdy shoes are advised). Sometimes, it's more fun to rely on another pair of feet - or two pairs, in this instance! The owners of Whitelady House can help guests to plan a fantastic riding holiday with every day spent in the saddle, or you can get in touch with a nearby riding school to arrange a leisurely guided trek.

Keeping a group of family and friends entertained on holiday is easy when you stay at Whitelady House because there is so much to do both together and as smaller groups if that is what people prefer. For example, those with a culinary interest can attend a specialist cookery course leaving the history buffs to visit Buckland Abbey and Estate, and adrenaline lovers to get their kicks scaling Dartmoor's granite tors or mountain biking along thrilling off-road trails. Plymouth is a short drive away offering a wealth of shopping and entertainment, or spend a day building sandcastles at Bovisands or Wembury Beach.

The excellent location paired with the high standard of accommodation makes Whitelady House a fantastic holiday property whether you are escaping for a long weekend to celebrate a milestone occasion, planning a hen party, or having an annual get-together with your extended family for a week in summer or over Christmas. Talk to the property managers when booking and let them know if you have any special requirements such as the need for one-off or nightly caterers or help planning activities either on site or in the local area.
