Groves Fishleigh is a charming cottage in Devon, praised for its beautiful, tranquil setting and welcoming hosts, Malcolm and Zoe. Guests enjoyed the comfortable beds, the spaciousness, and the pet-friendly environment. The surrounding countryside and wildlife added to the peaceful holiday experience. While some guests mentioned the lack of Wi-Fi and mobile reception, the property's character and location provided a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle.
The majority of guests found the cottage clean and cosy. However, a few mentioned the presence of cobwebs and flies, which is not uncommon in rural settings. The overall impression is that the property is well-maintained.
The location is highly praised for its peace and tranquillity, with easy access to walks and nature. It's described as a hidden gem, ideal for a rural retreat. The remote aspect was appreciated, although some found it a bit too secluded.
Guests were very pleased with the comfort of the cottage, particularly noting the comfortable beds and cosy atmosphere. The spaciousness and secure areas for pets also contributed to the comfort level.
Facilities were generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and good shower. However, some guests noted the lack of Wi-Fi, mobile reception, and a place to dry clothes. Maintenance issues like a broken shower seal and toilet seat were mentioned, suggesting room for improvement.
While some guests mentioned a lack of welcome pack and the need to bring essentials, there were no specific references to gifts from the hosts. Therefore, it's not possible to score thoughtfulness based on the available information.

Otherwise the cottage was clean and the owners Zoe and Malcolm left us a box of quality street and a little card welcoming us which was lovely gesture . Would definately love to possibly come back and see the lovely quiet ducks x

The peace, garden. The house has enough space.

It's perfect for us & the dog & the cottage had everything you need. Agree with all previous reviews that you have to take everything with you as nothing there but there was loo roll, washing up liquid & hand wash this time which was a help. But if you know things won't be there, just take them with you. Unfortunately, the washing machine wasn't working which the owners informed us of on arrival but offered for us to use their washing machine which was kind. The only very small negative is the outside furniture which is in quite a bad state so could do with replacing. And an outside light could be useful but because of it being a thatched cottage, it may not be permissable. There is a torch under the kitchen sink if you hadn't taken one. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Zoe & Malcolm (the owners) are lovely & on hand if you need anything. We'll definitely be back as the location is perfect as close to our family. It's peaceful & 30 seconds from the Tarka Trail for dog walking. Just love it!
