Guests consistently praise Rock View Shepherd's Hut for its peaceful and private woodland setting, exceptional cleanliness, and the warm hospitality of hosts Nick and Karen. The hut's charm is enhanced by its cosy interior, modern amenities, and the delightful experience of a hot tub under the stars. Visitors appreciate the opportunity to disconnect and enjoy nature, with many expressing a desire to return.

Reviewers frequently mention the spotless condition of the hut, indicating a very high standard of cleanliness that exceeds guest expectations.

The secluded and idyllic woodland setting is highly praised, with guests enjoying the tranquillity and proximity to nature trails and local attractions.

The comfort of the hut is well-regarded, with special mentions of a comfortable bed and cosy atmosphere, although a few guests noted the bed's size and pillow quality.

Guests are touched by the thoughtful gestures such as welcome cards and chilled Prosecco. While these gifts greatly enhance the experience, they are personal touches and may vary.

About this property

About three miles from the village of Gunnislake, surrounded by serene woodland, is Rock View Shepherd's Hut. This beautiful retreat is set within broad-leafed woodland, close to Wheal Josiah, the now abandoned, but former richest copper mine in Europe. Wander through this lovely land towards the hut and step up into the romantic studio accommodation. On your left sits a lovely dining area, which can be transformed into a cosy double bed come night-time. Perfect for two adults. With no TV or WiFi, this really is a relaxing retreat for you and your other half to get away from it all. A compact yet nicely appointed kitchen also comes nearby, while the layout benefits charmingly from a woodburning stove and a flutter of delightful copper features indicating the copper mine grounds that the property rests on. Completing this unique bolthole is a fresh white shower room. Outside is a private woodland garden with a table, chairs and a fire pit - an idyllic spot to unwind. Also for your enjoyment a private wood-fired hot tub for two.

Beyond the garden are acres of woodland and the Tamar Trails activity centre for walking and cycling, which is around a 20-minute walk away. Nearby are the historic market town of Tavistock, the National Trust's Cotehele House, Buckland Abbey and Morwellham Quay, the location of the BBC's Edwardian Farm. Further afield, Plymouth has shops, theatres, the National Marine Aquarium and historic Barbican. Rock View Shepherd’s Hut is a peaceful and picturesque retreat where you can choose to do as little or as much as you wish.

A delightful award-winning market town on the River Tavy, nestling in the South West slopes of Dartmoor. Tavistock has an indoor pannier market, a diverse range of shops, an excellent choice of pubs, bistros, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema, as well as a leisure pool.
