The Byre is a charming and spacious cottage in a tranquil Dorset setting, praised for its beautiful views, well-equipped kitchen, and peaceful atmosphere. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, generous welcome packs (though not guaranteed), and the host’s helpfulness. The property is ideal for exploring the local countryside and historic towns. Some guests mention the bed is quite firm and note minor maintenance issues, but overall, the cottage offers a comfortable and relaxing retreat, perfect for couples or small families seeking a rural getaway.
Most guests found the property spotlessly clean and well-presented, though a few mentioned minor issues such as cobwebs or areas needing more attention. Overall, cleanliness is a strong point.
The cottage’s secluded, peaceful location with stunning countryside views is highly praised. Its proximity to local attractions and ease of access to shops and historic towns are frequently highlighted.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, warm, and cosy, but several noted the bed is very firm, which affected sleep quality for some. Otherwise, the property is described as homely and relaxing.
The cottage is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and features like the Aga and underfloor heating are appreciated. Some minor maintenance issues (stiff taps, patio doors, TV remote) and the non-secure garden for dogs were mentioned.
Many guests mention generous welcome packs including wine and chocolates, and praise the host’s helpfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed, future guests should not expect them as standard.

We've had 3 holidays here and love it. The accommodation is comfortable and always warm. Wine, biscuits and chocolate always welcoming. We love the garden and watching birds including 3 peacocks. The AGA IS easy to use and always plenty of hot water. Just minor points, patio doors need attending to as they stick and can be hard to open. Cleaning needs attention.
