About this property

No.98 is a beautiful, three-bedroom house located in the peaceful town of Sturminster Newton, in Dorset. Situated in a peaceful location and close to local amenities, this property sleeps five and is ideal for families and groups seeking a quiet escape. Walk past the landscaped front garden and into a bright and airy sitting room with ample seating for you to lounge on as you watch TV. In the kitchen/diner you’ll find everything you need to cook up your favourite meals and enjoy them around the dining table or around the outdoor seating in the stunning, terraced garden when the weather allows. After a good night’s rest in the bedrooms’ plush beds, freshen up with a shower and get ready to explore Dorset. Venture out to the town centre where you’ll find a handful of eateries and things to do; you can enjoy a hearty meal at White Hart Alehouse, pick up some treats for breakfast at the Oxford Bakery or dine beside the fireplace at Bank House Brasserie. History-lovers will enjoy a tour of Sturminster Newton Museum with its exhibitions about the town’s history, a visit to Sturminster Newton Mill with its guided tours, and a stroll around the 14th-century Fiddleford Manor. Drive down to Dorchester and tour the stunning Athelhampton House & Gardens where you’ll be able to dine, and if you’re lucky enough, catch a ballet performance. Say hello to the animals at Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens with its sheep, goats, ponies and many more, and don’t forget to check out The Dinosaur Museum and its skeletons and reconstructions. Visit Wimborne Minister, a historical riverside town, and tower over Wimborne Model Town & Gardens, a 1/10th scale model of the town as it looked in the 1950s, when the sun is shining put on your bathing suit and go to The Mega Slip and Slide water park, and end the day with some riverside dining at The Olive Branch. Bring your loved ones year after year to No.98.

The small, attractive market town of Sturminster Newton is set on the banks of the River Stour, reached via a graceful, six-arch, 15th century bridge, carrying a warning of deportation to those who may damage it! The whole area acted as inspiration for the works of Thomas Hardy, who wrote Return of The Native whilst living in the town. The region is dotted with thatched cottages, rural walks, stunning country views, and fascinating towns, such as Sherborne, with its abbey and castle, whilst the beautiful Dorset Heritage Coast is also within easy reach, making this an ideal base all year round!
