Nestling on the outskirts of the picturesque South Somerset village of Cucklington and close to the old Market Town of Wincanton, Willow Barn, all on one level, is the larger part of a converted Dairy, set in the heart of the beautiful Wessex Blackmore Vale and on the edge of Cranborne Chase AONB, but still close to major routes (A303 is within 4 miles).
Close to the owners’ home, south-facing and all on one level, Willow Barn is attached to neighbouring Little Barn, and offers a peaceful rural retreat in tranquil countryside but is still within easy reach of so much for the visitor being ideally situated for exploring many of the area’s most treasured attractions including five stunning National Trust properties - world famous Stourhead; Longleat Safari Park; Cheddar Gorge; Lulworth Cove and West Bay, and for the enthusiasts - Haynes Motor Museum and Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum to name just a few. The cathedral cities of Salisbury, Bath and Wells are also an easy drive especially for Bath’s famous Christmas Market. This is farming country and a haven for artisan cider and cheese enthusiasts, showcasing the local produce for which Somerset is so well known.
Bright, comfortable accommodation for up to four people, cosy in winter but cool in summer, guests enter from the patio with garden furniture, through the porch with roses rambling on either side, to the open plan living/dining space with well-equipped kitchen/breakfast area. Curl up to relax watching TV or read a book on one of the comfortable sofas, and when it’s time to rest choose between the charming double or comfy twin bedroom, with a modern shower room between.
A quaint and charming market town in Somerset, Wincanton sits on the historic coaching route between Exeter and the West Country, close to the borders of Dorset and Wiltshire. Despite its modest size, it boasts a splendid selection of independent shops, pubs, and eateries, including The Nog Inn, The Lovington Bakery, and the Discworld Emporium, as well as convenient supermarkets for stocking up on essentials. Rich in character, the town features traditional buildings, some with attractive thatched roofs, and is well known for the races at Wincanton Racecourse. Visitors can also enjoy the prestigious Wincanton Golf Club, while nearby Bruton offers historical attractions and an artistic scene, including the renowned Hauser & Wirth gallery. The Newt in Somerset is also within easy reach, showcasing impressive gardens and excellent dining. Resting in the heart of the Blackmore Vale and close to the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Wincanton is well placed for exploring the surrounding countryside. Further afield, the Dorset, Mendip Hills, and Quantock Hills National Landscapes can all be reached by car. The popular destination of Glastonbury, home to the world’s largest annual music festival, is also within a short drive.

The owners were most helpful and we would have no hesitation of going back there in the future.

Itâs a spotlessly clean, comfortable little bungalow. Set in wonderful countryside it was very peaceful and quiet, just what we wanted. It was lovely to see Herbie the horse being looked after in the stables close by and frolicking in the paddock. The visits from little Puzzle the dog each day were a joy. Many thanks to owners Karen and Campbell for their hospitality. They are lovely people and very informative.
