This fascinating detached house, converted from a barn with great flair and imagination by its architect owner, is idyllically and peacefully set in a landscaped ‘wild’ garden with sitting-out areas, Arne Barn, which has been within the family for many years, offers a very unusual and welcoming retreat. There is an interesting mix of artefacts, ornaments and personal touches using a ‘nature’s theme’, as well as a vast array of books and traditional family games.
With views over a farm, and glimpses of the harbour beyond, it is an ideal spot to explore the Dorset coastline, the Purbecks and rspb nature trail at Arne. Clean sandy beaches at Sandbanks and Brownsea Island. Corfe Castle/Wareham within 10 miles. Poole/Bournemouth within 25 miles. Riding, fishing, boat hire locally. Shops 3 miles.

We loved Arne barn the area is amazing and comfort is good in the house and well equipped kitchen , the bed at top of stairs could do with walls to make a proper bedroom we loved it and will return .Great for the dogs and the little beach was a great surprise .

Unusual to find every draw, cupboard, shelf full of the owners ‘junk’. House needs a thorough sort out. Kitchen - unless you are a giant you are going to struggle to use the microwave. Also I would recommend you bring a cloth to use in the kitchen as the owners don’t seem to think you need to wipe anything down during your stay. Overall the house is well equipped and somewhat quirky, but in a good way. Garden is intriguing. We enjoyed our stay. Great for wildlife.

A unique place with a very distinctive feel. At the edge of Arne, with deer framed through a break in the foliage and swallows in the car port. A place to relax. Lots to recommend, but the feeling of being in the edge of everything but still accessible from Wareham, Corfe or the coast is what we took away from it.
