Today, the river provides a great playground, you can hire a boat from the attractive quayside and chug your way down the stream, take one of the regular organised boat trips, browse the colourful Saturday market or simply just enjoy an ice cream or a drink relaxing on the Quayside. Whilst seasonally there are also numerous popular events taking place beside the river. A short drive takes you to the Arne peninsula jutting out into Poole Harbour, a designated rspb reserve, where you can stroll down to the water’s edge, taking in glimpses of the impressive bird population and often viewing some of the resident deer.
