Guests say

Guests generally enjoyed their stay at Bedford Terrace, praising its brilliant location, comfortable beds, and sea views. The cottage's character and homely touches were appreciated, along with its proximity to Bridport's centre. Some concerns were raised about the narrow access and the need for maintenance and deeper cleaning.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests suggested a need for deeper cleaning and attention to soft furnishings, while others did not raise cleanliness as an issue. The cooker's cleanliness was specifically mentioned, indicating room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to Bridport town centre, sea views, and quiet setting. The convenience of being within walking distance to local amenities was a highlight for many guests.

Guests found the beds very comfortable and the living spaces cosy, with a log fire and comfortable sofas. However, some guests mentioned worn furniture and the need for better lighting, indicating that comfort could be enhanced.

The cottage is well-equipped with games, books, and a functional kitchen. However, guests noted some maintenance issues such as wobbly chairs and a leak in the roof. The narrow access and parking were also points of concern.

While guests appreciated the selection of books, guides, and the homely touches, there were no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful gestures that would warrant a score in this category.

About this property

Bedford Terrace is a charming mid-terrace cottage residing in the picturesque market town of Bridport and just a few moments from the lovely seaside town of West Bay. Providing a wonderful setting from which to enjoy all that the scenic Jurassic Coast has to offer, Bedford Terraces sleeps up to 4 guests and makes the perfect home away from home for family or friends seeking a memorable staycation in delightful Dorset. Step inside the property into the cosy sitting room, traditionally styled with stained wood flooring and a rustic woodburning stove, exuding charm and warmth on those chillier evenings, where you can settle down and plan your holiday itinerary. The spacious kitchen/diner follows suit with the traditional décor, homing a rustic dining table and contrasting wooded surfaces, inviting you can take a pew and enjoy a glass of wine whilst the designated chef of the group prepare a heart-warming meal, and in the warmer months, step outside into the enclosed patio area and breath in the refreshing coastal air whilst you sit and unwind after another exciting day spent exploring the local area. Head upstairs where you can relax and recharge in one of the two bedrooms, the first of which being a sizeable kingsize bedroom where you can enjoy a view over the treetops framed by the sash window from the old-style rocking chair, and a charming twin bedroom, home to a selection of books and a plush armchair, inviting you to cosy up and escape into a novel. Servicing the bedrooms is the family bathroom, brightly-decorated with a delightful pastel yellow, creating the perfect ambiance for a tranquil soak in the bathtub. West Bay is most famous for its location scenes in the TV series Broadchurch and has a vast selection of restaurants, pubs and shops for you to discover, whether it be for your daily essentials or for that special souvenir to take back home. The busy fishing harbour is a wonderful sight and the smell of freshly caught fish will have you rushing to the nearest takeaway chip shop, and there are many boat trips which can take you out on the water to relish in the spectacular clifftop scenery. If you wish to travel further afield, the beautiful town of Lyme Regis is to the west of West Bay where you can marvel at the collections in Dinosaurland Fossil Museum, uncover the local history at Lyme Regis Museum and meet some underwater creatures at Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium. However you spend your days in making memories with your loved ones, Bedford Terrace makes for wonderful base from which to enjoy all that the remarkable County of Dorset has to offer.

The quaint market town of Bridport rests 1.5 miles inland from the English Channel and has a heritage associated with the production of rope and nets for ships dating back to 1211. Within the town's boundaries is Bridport Harbour, a small harbour settlement that was later renamed to West Bay in an attempt to promote it as a resort. Bridport Beach stretches along the coastline of West Bay, and plays home to a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.

House is an extremely comfortable and relaxing place to stay, lots of creature comforts provided for. Gardens were a real bonus. Driveway is tight (see other reviews) but not impossible if there’s two of you and wing mirrors are in. Parking space is easily located once you’ve spotted the yellow door and key safe is then visible. Highly recommended by myself and my family of four adults.

Everything was there that we needed. Great location for centre of Bridport. Would book again.

The other things that would have improved our comfort was the lighting under the kitchen wall cabinets didn’t appear to have any switch visible to turn on and the lighting over the hob was very weak. The back garden was in need of some TLC as there were a large number of weeds growing, and covering the steps leading to the back and prevented us from sitting there even though we were fortunate enough to have good weather. Perhaps the table and chairs in the garden could be moved down to the lower patio. The proximity of the town from the cottage was good.
