Nutwood Cottage in Charmouth is praised for its fabulous location, picturesque garden, and spacious, well-equipped interior. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, comfortable beds, and the welcome pack. While some mention minor issues with parking, dampness, and the need for upgrades in certain areas, the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
The property is consistently described as clean and tidy, with only one mention of a damp smell affecting the overall impression. The high level of cleanliness contributes positively to the guests' experiences.
The location is highly regarded for its proximity to beaches and local attractions. The picturesque views and easy access to Charmouth and Lyme are frequently mentioned, although some guests note the busy main road and the challenging walk back from the beach.
Guests find the property comfortable, with special mentions of the beds and mattresses. However, there are comments about small beds in double rooms, lumpy pillows, and thin curtains, which slightly detract from the comfort score.
The property is well-equipped and modernised, with a well-stocked kitchen and good bathrooms. Some guests suggest upgrades for items like the iron, kettle, and pillows. The parking facility, while appreciated, is noted to require maintenance.
The welcome pack is mentioned positively, indicating thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this aspect is appreciated but not expected. The provision of information booklets and a DVD player also reflects consideration for guests' needs.

Very clean, plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. Beds were very comfortable. Parking space a bonus although easier to park on road opposite house for loading/unloading. Great WiFi signal - also a bonus with a teenager. En-suite bedroom could benefit from a blackout blind but otherwise all perfect. Lovely welcome pack which was most appreciated. Very relaxing week.

Spacious downstairs living/dining area. Well equipped kitchen, dishwasher a bonus! Garden was stunning with excellent seating area. Plenty of room for the 5 of us and great space for our 3 year old to move around. Wonderful views from the two back bedrooms over the hills and bonus that the very top room has a small view of the sea! Downstairs bathroom was good. Shops, fish and chip shop and beach all within close reach. Having a dedicated parking spot was very handy. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. Having a dvd player with dvds available was helpful for keeping our little one busy when we were tired from the day. Lots of information and helpful booklets/leaflets everywhere. Plenty of wardrobe space. Negatives: The beds in the two double bedrooms were really very small and not comfortable. The pillows were also quite lumpy, which I think is probably from over washing. The curtains were incredibly thin so the rooms were very bright very early. The two couples in the double rooms didnât sleep well for the entire holiday. Things for people to consider: The house is on the main road into Charmouth and it is very busy. At night time, when buses and lorries go past these can be heard clearly and also make the upmost bedroom seem to âshakeâ. The house probably isnât suitable for elderly people due to steps down into the kitchen, bathroom and grass/garden, as well as the steep and narrow steps up to the top bedroom. The ceiling height in the top bedroom is quite low so you have to duck in places. The walk down to the beach is easy but Charmouth is on a hill so the walk back, especially if you have little ones, is really arduous.

It is the second time we stayed at the property and its location and views are really excellent and it provides a good base to travel around or relax in. A minor point would be the off street parking which whilst handy and good, would benefit from some maintenance as the car park itself which is predominantly gravel based had deteriorated a bit so it was tricky at times getting the car out. Overall a good property in a lovely place.
