About this property

Settled in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the village of Uplyme is Pound Cottage. This charming, detached holiday home benefits from a patio with hot tub, views of the far-reaching countryside from the bedrooms and a welcoming living area perfect for small families or couples looking to explore the Jurassic Coast. Be welcomed by a homely sitting room where you can snuggle up in front of the woodburning stove while your partner gets acquainted with the fully-equipped kitchen. Enjoy this delicious meal at the dining table before stepping outside to indulge in a soothing soak in the hot tub, a wonderful place to admire the stars as they begin to fill the sky. When sleep calls, head upstairs to wash off the day in the sleek bathroom before catching your rest in either of the doubles or the single bedroom. Find local stores in the heart of Uplyme where you can stock up on necessities and enjoy evenings out at the Talbot Arms, a delightful pub serving a variety of meals and drinks. Pound Cottage lies conveniently near the path leading you into the centre of Lyme Regis where you can savour sunny days on the golden shores of Lyme Regis Beach while the little ones splash around in the azure. Immerse yourself in the past by visiting Lyme Regis Fossil Beach where you can walk across millions of years of evolutionary history; continue this historic excursion at the Dinosaurland Fossil Museum which exhibits over 9000 specimens. The town also houses the Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium, a wonderful place for a family day out thanks to its displays of local sea life and pools where guests can hand feed fish. Keen ramblers can join the South West Coast path which runs an impressive 630 miles providing guests with countless opportunities to admire seaside towns like Charmouth and Seaton. Adventure awaits on the Jurassic Coast at Pound Cottage.

Located on the border between Devon and Dorset, the picturesque countryside around the village of Uplyme is an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is laced with bridleways and footpaths like the East Devon Way and offers perfect opportunities for outdoor recreation and sightseeing. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, a celebrity chef on the Food Network, chose the area for the location of his River Cottage headquarters at Park Farm. Lyme Regis, on the beautiful Jurassic Coast, is only a short drive away. The sandy beach is ideal for swimming and water sports, the quaint harbour offers regular fishing trips and the opportunity to go fossil hunting, and the town itself is a delightful maze of narrow streets with interesting shops and cafes. Axminster, a picturesque town just a short drive away, is worth a visit, as is the Seaton Tramway. Wonderful place to spend a holiday that offers a wide range of opportunities.

We had issue with light fitting falling down which was rectified very quickly by the owner which was very efficient. The toilet seat fixing was broken and quite dangerous to use in the main bathroom and the bath plug didn’t hold water. Also stair gate couldn’t be fitted anywhere to secure the stairs. All this being said the property is lovely and cosy and the hot tub is so relaxing and private. We did have a fantastic stay and these are only minor niggles but wanted to mention them as owner may not be aware.

The cottage is super lovely and in a beautiful location Nothing better than sitting in the Spa and watching the sheep on the hills and the birds flying about It was a perfect spot for a quiet weekend enjoying the local beauty

The location was great and the walk from the cottage into Lyme Regis was really nice. The biggest downside for us was the significant lack of parking I can't see that this was advised of in the property listing. I've looked through everything. From an accessibility point of view as I'm profoundly deaf in my left ear and I don't have much hearing left in my right, this was a massive issue to the point that I feel we should make a complaint please. The road outside next to the cottage is extremely dangerous and we had no choice but to park over the road on the hill. People need to made aware of this! It's standard stuff. It's not a cheap holiday and this is something you should either have as standard or at least be made aware of before you go. It's really disappointing. We have no issue with the quality of the cottage etc, or the booking etc through Sykes is just the parking and I in particular don't want another family to go through the stress like we did due to accessibility issues. Thank you.
