Seashell in Lyme Regis is a well-regarded apartment praised for its central location, secure parking, and modern comforts. Guests appreciate the convenience to town and beach, and the gated community adds a sense of exclusivity. While some maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with the property offering a clean, comfortable stay.
Most guests found the apartment to be clean and well-presented, though there were isolated reports of cleanliness issues upon arrival. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule, hence the above-average score.
The apartment's location is consistently praised for its centrality and convenience to Lyme Regis town centre, beach, and gardens. Secure parking is frequently mentioned as a significant benefit.
Guests find the apartment comfortable, with some noting the high insulation and warmth. However, there are comments about firm mattresses and overly warm bedrooms, suggesting room for improvement in sleep comfort.
The apartment is generally seen as well-equipped and modern. However, several reviews mention minor maintenance issues such as lighting problems, a dripping tap, and the need for a dustpan and brush, indicating some attention is needed.
While a welcome pack is mentioned positively, there is insufficient information to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the hosts, such as consistent provision of gifts or additional amenities. Therefore, this score is set to null.

what lets that apartment down is the management company and their communications. We had two problems which we reported: 1. I fell into a drain beside the neighbouring property (the charity shop) when I got out of the passenger side of the car to try to open the gate and cut and hurt my knee. I think you should contact the neighbours to get the drain covered properly before someone does themself more damage 2. The literature said the the codes to get into the property would be with the keys; they were not. we only gained access because of two kind neighbours, one to tell us the code for the main gate and the other the code for the entrance door to the building. without their help I don't know how we would have got in. I sent an email to report these problems and all I got was the instruction to use options 2 and 3. when I did this it said use option 4 which I did and that was useless as well - I got no answer and eventually got cut off. I was not able to speak to a person at any time, which is unacceptable I've had no suitable response to my two problems whatsoever. We also (like your other recent review) fell for the claim to have a sea view, which there isn't. I notice that claim is no longer on the website, so presumably you've taken that off, but you mislead us with it before you did. This is very poor service from Lyme Bay Holidays and Sykes Cottages. It gives the impression that once you've taken the money for the property booking you have no further interest in the customer. I strongly suggest that the apartment owners find a different management company as soon as possible.

I though that my daughter and I had a Seaview. At £2200 I understood this was the case. I can put my hand up to not looking properly at the room whilst booking but the listing said Sea view! The appartment was very nice but the pillows in the double bedroom had an "odour"and upon investigation I found them to have yellowing under cases that weren't really pillow protectors and some of the pillows underneath had marks on them. For a "luxury" appartment I find this to be unacceptable. The plug in the main bathroom didn't work. My daughter went to have a bath, she is on the autism spectrum so routine is key to ensure her happiness and wellbeing but the bath wouldn't fill. The seal on the bath plug was perished and no longer did its function. The plug hole was absolutely filthy and full of hair! I rang and spoke to a gentleman first thing Saturday who assured it would be looked at. It was but it wasn't sorted until Thursday. A problem locating a seal for it apparently. This was the day before we were due to leave. Like I said before this was a very nice appartment but certainly not up to the standard of a " luxury" one. I am very disappointed as this cost a fortune just for me and my daughter to stay in. I wouldn't stay here again as the cleanliness was not up to standard. The bedding didn't even match. The welcome pack however was a really nice touch but I would have rather had the "luxury" appartment that I thought I had paid for.

The secure parking is a real bonus and the closeness to Lyme and the gardens above the Cobb. Ideally accepting pets would be very welcome as we would love to bring our dogs.
