Guests say

The Orchard Country House is a spacious and well-equipped property ideal for large gatherings, offering ample communal space, ensuite bedrooms, and a well-stocked kitchen. The property's cleanliness is generally praised, and its location in Devon is appreciated for its proximity to walking areas and the coast. While some guests note the property's decor and maintenance could be refreshed, the overall experience is positive, with many guests planning return visits.

The property is consistently described as clean, with particular praise for the cleaning team. However, some guests noted areas that could benefit from deeper cleaning, such as under sofas and in less visible spots.

The property's location in Devon is well-received, with guests enjoying the nearby walking opportunities and proximity to the coast. The presence of a bus stop outside is also noted as convenient, although some guests mentioned the benefit of having a car for exploring.

Guests find the property warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for relaxation. However, some guests mentioned that the beds could be more comfortable and that some rooms lacked heating.

The property is praised for its well-equipped kitchens and ample dining space. Nonetheless, guests have reported maintenance issues such as slow showers, outdated decor, and the need for additional dishwashers for large groups.

While some guests mentioned receiving a welcome pack of goodies, there is not enough consistent information across the reviews to accurately assess the level of thoughtfulness as a standard offering. Therefore, this score is set to null.

Yes, it was scruffy around the edges and needed modernisation, but its plus points far outweighed the negatives: • All the bedrooms had ensuite facilities and were supplied with good quality clean linen and towels • Two well equipped kitchens with 2 ovens, 2 hobs, 2 microwaves, full size freezer, 1 full size and 1 half size fridge, 2 dishwashers, washing machine and tumble dryer, 4 sinks and plenty of cooking pans, utensils etc. • Ample cutlery and crockery, serving dishes and plates. • Large dining room and separate lounge where we could all eat and sit together • Ample parking and outside seating We have hired large houses before that haven’t been so well equipped. Heating and hot water were fine and the couple of minor issues we had were resolved the same day. Location of the property was excellent with many places to visit along the nearby Jurassic Coast and there’s a lovely café 2 minutes walk away which serves great coffee, cakes and breakfast baps etc.

There was no clear signposting of the house so spent 20 extra minutes trying to find it. The house needs modernisation in the plumbing department and a thorough deep clean. Otherwise it was a lovely stay.

Unfortunately, despite turning the thermostat up and adjusting individual radiator thermostats, we couldn’t get any heat into several rooms which appeared to be on a separate heating system. The instructions provided weren’t much help either. This was slightly annoying and did affect some guests’ comfort.
