The Wave in Eype offers stunning views and proximity to the beach, with guests praising its beautiful location and well-equipped facilities. While some guests encountered issues with cleanliness and comfort, the property has made efforts to address feedback, and many have enjoyed their stays, often highlighting the exceptional views and the property's tranquil setting.
Cleanliness has received mixed reviews, with several guests noting issues such as unwashed sheets and dust, which impacted their experience. However, others found the property to be clean, suggesting some inconsistency in the cleaning standards.
The location is highly praised for its stunning sea views, proximity to the beach, and access to coastal walks. Guests consistently appreciate the setting, making it one of the property's strongest features.
Comfort has been a point of contention, with some guests finding the mattresses and seating uncomfortable. However, there are also positive comments about the property's comfort in general, indicating that experiences vary.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the property being described as well-equipped. Some guests mentioned issues with maintenance, such as problems with the washing machine and underfloor heating, but these were often swiftly addressed.
There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no consistent mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the property's consideration for guests' experiences.
The Wave at Eype is a unique architect designed lodge style property, and it offers breath-taking uninterrupted sea views. Newly constructed in 2018, this contemporary lodge has fully glazed bi-fold doors leading on to a large decked area, which makes the most of the sea and coastal views, from both inside the property and out. The doors make the open plan living kitchen dining space part of the outside and they allow the light to flood in, and bring the stunning views to the doorstep. The curved shape of The Wave affords guests the opportunity of a first floor master bedroom with further additional unique sea views. There are also two ground floor bedrooms and a contemporary bathroom.
This exceptional gem is just a few moments' walk from the beach, and coastal path, and it offers the perfect location for a relaxed seaside family holiday in Dorset.
Just a short drive away the market town of Bridport, with its famous market, large selection of independent shops, and popular restaurants and it is well worth a visit. If you are a fan of the ITV series Broadchurch, the chalet used in series one is directly opposite The Wave, and West Bay where the series was based is just a short drive away, and you can recognise many familiar sights from the programme when you visit.
There is much to be enjoyed on the doorstep of this beautiful property, but don’t let that stop you from exploring further afield, as Chesil beach, Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Abbotsbury, Portland and Weymouth are all close by, and an easy drive away.
This chalet would suit a family or group of friends who want to make the most of being on the coast.
Eype sits on some of the most dramatic Jurassic Coastline, and famously features one of ITV’s series Broadchurch’s. The beach at Eype is a steeply shelving pebble beach that is dog friendly all year round and just 3 miles from Bridport and 4 from West Bay, where many other Broadchurch locations can be viewed, as well enjoying local fish and chips on the harbour side and ice creams on the sea front. Bridport offers all the high street amenities you will need along with a much-coveted antiques and collectables market. Golden Cap, the highest point in Dorset, sits on the South West Coast path and is just 4 miles from Eype, although it’s the highest point there are moderate routes to walk to the top, where spectacular far reaching views along the coast will be your reward.

Both of our visits have resulted in us taking on some amount of cleaning ourselves. The thing that makes the Wave brilliant is the viewâ¦but the windows/bi fold doors were dirty. There were quite a few corners and surfaces which had obviously been overlooked. It would be helpful if there was at least some milk on arrival and a spare loo roll in the bathroomâ¦seems a little mean. The downstairs double bedroom bed has a headboard that isnât attached to the bedâ¦also in this bedroom the fridge is so noisy in the kitchen it definitely impacts on sleep quality. The living room is okay but of course itâs difficult to watch the small TV without rearranging the furnitureâ¦and understand the geography of the room dictating this issue but on rainy days or winter nights it would be nice to watch TV in comfort. Sorry to have to bring these things to light and it is such a shame as a few changes to the upkeep could make a huge difference and there are so many positives that still make this an exceptional place and you really cannot beat where it is.

Accommodation was fine for us and the aircon unit in the main bedroom was very welcome. As it is south facing although a parasol was suppled this was too small to provide adequate shade. Apart from that everything was great.

Gorgeous lodge in a gorgeous location. The master bedroom was huge and didnât find headspace to be a problem, the air con up there was a real bonus. There was everything there you needed, the only kitchen item I missed was a teapot - but thatâs because we are a tea drinking family! The only think that could improve slightly was the cleaning, a few corners and under edge of sofa had dirt - I think this may be due to hoover not working, I went to use the little Henry hoover one evening and realised the plug only had 2 prongs so couldnât plug in, I swept instead but was hard to get all the bits of dirts and stones, which are to be expected after a day at the beach. However this did not spoil our amazing holiday - the walk to West Bay for evening meals was so lovely - even teenagers didnât complain! Thank you
