Make the most of the stunning views over the beach from the second-floor sitting room too, with its seascapes extending out across the English Channel, The Fleet and Weymouth Bay, it makes a wonderful spot to watch the sunset of an evening, where you can enjoy a quiet moment reading a book or planning your itinerary for the days ahead. The location of the property is super, with local shops, pubs and restaurants a convenient short stroll away in the village of Fortuneswell, while a wide range of attractions including the beautiful beach being within easy reach too, including the International Marina and the National Sailing Academy and free tennis courts in Victoria Park, just across the road from Jurassica House also being within walking distance. For active holiday guests, kite surfing, sailing, paddle-boarding, diving and windsurfing are among the water sports available, as well as Castletown being home to the Osprey Leisure Centre, offering an indoor swimming pool, gym, squash courts and other leisure activities, or for those seeking a more leisurely day trip you can find the historic Portland Castle, Castletown Beach and the D-Day Museum. The Isle of Portland is a walker’s delight with many rare butterflies and birds only seen at this Dorset location, with the top of the isle being home to the iconic red and white striped Portland Bill lighthouse, where you will find a couple of restaurants and cafés serving refreshments, making it a lovely stroll at any time of the year. The traditional Georgian seaside town of Weymouth can be reached within a scenic drive or you can catch the ferry from Castletown during the summer months, which takes you across the water to the heart of Weymouth Harbour; the glorious golden sandy beach appeals to families with traditional Punch and Judy shows, donkey rides, trampolines and ice cream parlours, while you may also find fine dining with oysters and champagne at the quayside for a more luxurious evening out. Weymouth offers a range of shops, alongside small independent shops, boutiques and restaurants, as well as brimming with attractions for family fun, such as the Sea Life Park and Marine Sanctuary or take in a show at the Pavilion Theatre. However you choose to spend your holiday, Jurassica House provides the perfect base for you to explore the island and the wonderful Jurassic Coast.

Fortuneswell can be found resting amongst the spectacularly scenic Jurassic coast, on the rugged Isle of Portland, Dorset. With a past of a quarrying area, the historic village now offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as beautiful views of the Jurassic Coast, well-worth exploring for fossils while in the area.
