A few minutes from Quarr Cottage in the other direction is Portland Museum and Church Ope Cove – a small secluded pebble beach. A more energetic walk of about 40 minutes will take you to Portland Bill, famous for its iconic red and white striped Lighthouse. The view from here is simply stunning with its far reaching sea views and dramatic cliffs. Portland is also renowned for its rare and varied wild life and birds as well as multiple water sports, so there is much to be found on your doorstep. If you would like to venture off the island, then Weymouth is only a 15-minute drive away with its Georgian seafront, award winning beach and high street shops.
