Trevina Cottage in Portland is praised for its excellent location near coastal paths, making it ideal for walkers and dog owners. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, enclosed garden, and comfortable beds. The property is described as homely and cosy, with friendly and responsive hosts. However, some guests noted issues with cleanliness, dated furnishings, and strict dog rules. Occasional maintenance concerns and musty smells were mentioned, but overall, the cottage offers good value and a welcoming atmosphere for families and pet owners.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with some describing it as spotless. However, a few reviews reported significant cleanliness issues, including unpleasant odours, dirty kitchenware, and bathroom concerns. These mixed experiences suggest generally acceptable standards, but with occasional lapses.

The location is highly praised, with guests loving the proximity to coastal walks, local amenities, and public transport. The setting is described as perfect for exploring Portland and Dorset, with easy access to both nature and town facilities.

Many guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, but several mentioned uncomfortable sofas and chairs, as well as issues with heating and lack of blackout blinds. While the property is generally comfortable, some improvements could enhance relaxation.

The cottage is well equipped, with thoughtful extras for dogs and families, and a secure garden. Some guests noted maintenance issues such as a non-working bathroom heater and limited seating for larger groups, but overall, facilities meet most guests' needs.

First thing we noticed was cobwebs in the kitchen. The kitchen cupboards smell damp. You have to wash the plates etc first as they smell of the cupboard. Then leave plates and cutlery out on the top. The whole downstairs needs updating. The sofa is really uncomfortable and smells of dogs. Upstairs front bedroom smells of dog *** as does the landing. The carpets are thread bare. The bathroom shower mat had long hair on it, we have short hair so definitely wasn't ours. The toilet had yellow stains at the back, so you can imagine what that was. All pans in the kitchen are covered in foil hiding the age of them. All in all, definitely won't be back. There was a mistake with the booking, should have been sat to sat but cleaners turned up on the Friday and we had an hour to pack up and go. Never again.

Absolutely vile in terms of cleanliness. We had to clean the entire house before we used it. Bathroom covered in black scum. Dreadful smell coming from bathroom upstairs which made us refuse to use it. My husband vomited when emptying the bins from the smell under the bin liners. Had to descale the kettle. Had to wash all kitchenware before use. Bedding made my daughter have an awful reaction all over her face. Went to use hoover when we left and loads of brown liquid came pouring out of the pipe/hose. Flies everywhere. Toilet seat downstairs not attached properly and we nearly fell in the toilet when we used it. Cobwebs and dirt on skirting boards and ceilings. It really shouldn't have been let out in that state.
