Guests say

Chestnut Cottage in Rodden is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its comfort, spaciousness, and cleanliness. It caters well to a range of ages and is particularly noted for its disabled-friendly facilities. The property's rural setting is appreciated for its tranquillity and proximity to local attractions. Some guests mentioned issues with flies and a few maintenance concerns, but these were generally outweighed by the positive aspects, including the well-equipped kitchen, welcoming touches, and the property's suitability for large family gatherings.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be immaculately clean and well-maintained, with only a few mentioning issues with flies which seems to be an external factor related to the property's farm setting.

Guests are charmed by the cottage's peaceful rural location, with easy access to beaches and countryside. The proximity to Weymouth and other Dorset attractions is frequently highlighted as a positive feature.

The property is consistently described as comfortable and spacious, suitable for large groups and families. The presence of a ground floor bedroom and disabled bathroom adds to the comfort for guests with mobility issues.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the well-stocked kitchen and garden amenities. However, some guests noted maintenance issues with water temperature control and kitchen appliances, which slightly lowers the score.

The owners are commended for their thoughtfulness, with mentions of welcoming touches such as tea, coffee, biscuits, and fresh milk on arrival. While these gestures are appreciated, it is noted that such gifts are given at the owners' discretion and may not be guaranteed.

The cottage worked for us on all levels. Downstairs bedroom and ensuite were perfect for our oldest party member who has mobility issues. It is traditional and comfortable and contains all the essentials and more for a great self-catering holiday. Great kitchen and dining area and generous lounge with lovely wood burner. Wanted to use the burner last year and this but it just wasn't cold enough! Would be brilliant on a cold winters day.

Well maintained and very comfortable, with all the necessary equipment. Pleased to say that is was disabled friendly, which was very appreciated.

Everything was very clean. Very well stocked with crockery, glasses, cutlery etc. The decor throughout the cottage was very tasteful. Plenty of seating in the living room. Bed linen was very comfortable as were the beds. We all used the ensuite wet room in the downstairs twin bedroom, which was brilliant. Lovely features - the windows and wooden beams, inglenook fireplace. I could go on. The only downside was the flies, which is obviously out of the owner's control, but the cottage was well stocked with a fly machine, swatters, sprays and fly strips. We were somewhat surprised that glass was not collected and recycled by Dorset Council, again, beyond the owner's control, but my sister took all the bottles (!) back home to recycle. It was the best holiday property we have stayed in, and we have stayed in some lovely ones.
