Lovely decoration and outside area. The only thing that let the property down was the cleanliness. Some examples are, scaly shower heads, scaly kettle, dust on fire in front room, marks all over glass table in front room , lots of crumbs down side of sofa by games cupboard in front room, cobwebs on pictures, dust and crumbs under beds. I felt the property needed a good deep clean and then to be maintained at that level. The door knob was not fitted correctly on the top floor en-suite bathroom and the door would not open. The company came out quickly to repair and all was fixed in a few minutes, great service.

The facilities were exceptional, the views breathtaking and ideally located. We had to contact Sykes cottages for some minor faults but these were dealt with quickly and efficiently. The only complaint I would have, would be the lack of wardrobe space in the master bedroom, as one complete side of the wardrobe has been utilized as linen storage for the household, leaving 1 side in use for hanging clothes for 2 people, which was further hampered by 2 linen sacks of towels being stored there.

There were food deposits on some of the crockery and I never used the frying pans because they were also dirty upon my arrival and in addition some of the crockery is badly chipped or cracked and needs replacing. A proper inspection before my arrival would have been good, the attention to detail was lacking compared to my last stay in this property. Lots of fixtures and fittings need attention, mostly minor things that could benefit a snagging list and attention. I raised some of these with Sykes but was put out when the engineer came during my holiday when I clearly stated these should wait until after my departure. The dishwasher in the kitchen is covered in limescale and it doesn’t clean the dishes thoroughly because of this and probably needs replacing or servicing . I had to hand wash items afterwards and it also didn’t appear to dry the dishes properly so I had to towel dry to make sure everything was ready to use. It is in an enviable location and the excellent games room with pool table is the main selling point and why I have rebooked for next year. I do hope a snagging list is compiled and acted upon. One of the bedroom doors is coming off it’s hinges, a towel rail had come away from the wall, an extendable shaving mirror had lost a rivet and a little screw kept falling out that was being used instead. Mostly minor things but collectively made me feel the asking price for the rental should have been reflected in the quality and maintenance of the place. It has so much potential to be perfect if the time is spent on it.
