The self contained cosy yurt is situated in a secluded corner of our large sloping garden, which has access to the Forest of Dean. The yurt has a wood burner and is insulated with thick yak's wool - perfect for colder nights. There is a very comfy double and a pull out double sofa bed which is great for kids. It is lit by lanterns at night (to allow you to disconnect from the wider world, there is no electricity inside the yurt itself).
A private shower room, with electric shower, hot running water, and a flushing toilet is 20 meters from the yurt, as is a small kitchenette with a fridge, hot water and power.
There is a covered eating area and an outdoor fireplace for cooking or enjoying a camp fire. We can provide a small portable electric hob and oven if you need it.
There is private off road parking for guests.
Please note that we are on a steep hill - the track to the yurt is steep, and the yurt access itself is across steep ground and there are steps. This means you have great views, but may not be good for you if you have mobility issues.
The yurt is situated in our garden, but has a private feel as you cannot see the house from the yurt and all facilities are completely self contained and for your sole use. We are happy for guests to make themselves at home and enjoy the garden, and social distancing will be maintained at all times.
We are in a quiet hamlet a mile from the nearest village, and from the yurt you can walk directly on forestry tracks into the Forest of Dean. All the forest has to offer is a walk or short drive away.
We are a family with young children and we live on the cottage on site, and are usually on hand if you need us at all. We love spending time in the forest on bike rides and walks, and we are always working on improving the site. We are always happy to help you if you need advice about local walks or other facilities.
Peaceful, quiet, and perfect for star gazing, and literally situated on the South Eastern edge of the Forest of Dean. We have regular visits from deer, owls, and voles, as well as the usual squirrel and small garden birds. Sometimes you can hear wild boar snuffling in the field next to the yurt.
Bradley Hill is a 15 minute walk away from the yurt and has spectacular displays of bluebells in spring, and far ranging views of the River Severn year round and the Cotswold Hills.
Soudley Ponds is a beautiful series of ponds which is around a 40 minute walk or 5 minute drive from the yurt, next to the Dean Heritage Centre which features a Gruffalo Trail, displays about local history, and a lovely cafe with a full hot menu.
Blakeney Village (15 minutes walk) has a convenience store, cafe serving hot food, a fish and chip shop, and a pub that serves fantastic food all week.
The wider Forest of Dean has a lot to offer for anyone who loves the outdoors, from sitting in undisturbed nature in the many miles of ancient forest, to using the excellent mountain bike trails and activity centres.
