About this property

It is rare to find a large self-catering property in town, especially one of a standard as high as Forest House. Tucked away close to the centre of Coleford, this elegant house sleeps up to 24 people in 11 bedrooms and is within walking distance of shops, cafes and a pub. The footpaths and cycling trails of the Forest of Dean can be reached within a five minute stroll from the house, and with attractions like Symonds Yat, Clearwell Caves, Puzzlewood and the Palace Cinema close by, Forest House is ideal for extended families and friends.

Forest House is a spacious property close to the centre of Coleford and within walking distance of shops, cafes and The Crown Inn pub. There is ample space for 24 people to sleep in 11 bedrooms, with lots of space both indoors and out. The house was the former home of Robert Mushet, inventor of modern steel and the founder of the Darkhill Ironworks in nearby Gorsty Knoll. Despite it's town centre location, the footpaths and cycling trails of the Forest of Dean are only a short stroll from the front door. It is a fantastic choice for a holiday with your extended family or friends.

Coleford is the perfect base for an activity-filled holiday as there is something nearby to satisfy everyone whether they seek the thrill of kayaking along the rushing River Wye or tearing along a mountain bike trail in the Forest of Dean, or they prefer the more sedate challenge of bird watching, fishing or golf. Within a small radius is a range of local businesses providing the opportunity to take on a 4x4 course, go caving, climb trees and walk along high ropes. Alternatively, guests can wander through the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo or immerse themselves in one of Britain's most ancient forests at Puzzlewood.

Nearby attractions include Clearwell Caves, which is a good all-weather attraction and very popular with children who go to visit Santa in his underground grotto at Christmas, and Symonds Yat which has breathtaking views of the the Wye Valley. Train buffs will love being close to Perrygrove Steam Railway and the Railway Museum, while historians should follow at least one of Coleford's self-guided walks that takes in some of the town's places of historical importance. Add to your itinerary the Elton Giant Maize Mazes, a day at Dick Whittington Farm Park and a screening at Palace Cinema, one of the oldest in the country, and you have a memorable holiday that includes something for everyone.
