Nestling in the village of Longhope on the edge of the beautiful Forest of Dean, this thoughtfully designed, detached holiday property incorporates characterful features throughout. The living area boasts a feature wood burner and exposed beams. It is ideally situated to enjoy this fantastic area. Activities such as walking, cycling, canoeing and clay pigeon are all available locally. Wonderful walks are also available from the doorstep and guests have unlimited access to the owner’s farm land, with woodland walks and orchards to explore. There are many attractions to visit including Harts Barn Craft Centre and Cookery School which is part of the estate. Why not use the hire chef service and have a gormet meal cooked for you! Go Ape Treetop Adventure, Puzzlewood and a steam railway to name just a few are not far away too. There is a local pub which is within walking distance as well as the local village of Longhope which has a lovely artisan bakery. Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth, Ledbury, Hereford, The Malverns, Gloucester and Cheltenham are all within easy driving distance. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Lovely place nice and peaceful, lodge is nice just needs a little freshen up, bit overgrown outside but hot tub was nice to have. Inside had plenty of equipment but again needs a little attention to full clean as very dusty needing a wipe when we arrived even though states has cleaners. Ensuite shower was a bit temperamental and quite slippy, other shower was fab but water does pool up around toilet and near the door needed regular mop after use. Plenty to do activity wise but will need to drive, would recommend Forest of Dean walks, aquapark and canoeing near by.

The Retreat is a lovely rustic escape. Location is great for surrounding attractions. Driveway is not a problem as some reviews state, but might be more tricky in winter. The hot tub is a bonus and was enjoyed daily. Not luxurious but certainly met our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Beautiful property in a beautiful setting. We all had a wonderful time away together as a family.We did have a few issues though1) dogs were allowed at the property however on arrival there was a sign saying dogs to be kept on a lead, and were not to be left alone at the property during the day. This made things very difficult during such a hot week when the family wanted to go out, but one had to stay back with the dogs due to the heat. 2) counter tops were all sticky3) Towels had a musty smell as though not been dried properly, so we had to wash them before using. 4) beautiful outdoor area but no lighting for those that wish to stay out late when it gets dark.These points are easily fix such as closed off garden for the dogs?But we do thank you for sharing your holiday home with us, with a bit more TLC it could be even better
