Look forward to relaxing in the sitting room, offering a large sofa, two armchairs, a TV and a woodburning stove, so you’ll have no trouble easing into the evening. Choose between the ground floor twin, which can be a super king-size on request, or the two double bedrooms upstairs, both of which benefit from en-suite facilities, and the master enjoys a Juliette balcony overlooking the river. Also on the ground floor is a contemporary shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC. Step out to the large patio, enjoying a moment or two in the sunshine as the barbecue sizzles in the background, here you can relish in quality family moments with a stunning backdrop of the River Severn.
The tide comes in twice a day, and when the tide is high you will get a first class view of the extraordinary Severn Bore. If you wish to take a night off cooking, just a short walk away is The Ship Inn, a family run village pub set on the canal-side, offering a traditional menu and a superb beer garden. The centre of Frampton-on-Severn is two miles away and the village boasts the longest village green in England, while the surrounding area is real haven for walkers and cyclists, plus there are many opportunities to have a relaxing day spent fishing.
Slimbridge Wetlands is just downstream, a reserve which exists to care for and study ducks and geese from around the world, and the sandbanks opposite are the feeding grounds for many species. Venture a little further afield to the city of Gloucester where you will find a plethora of amenities and attractions; spend an afternoon browsing the city’s superb selection of shops and markets, absorb the history of Gloucester Cathedral or explore the preservation of Gloucestershire’s rich aviation heritage at Jet Age Museum. Get dressed up for race day at Cheltenham Racecourse or Chepstow Racecourse, or if you’re bringing the kids along then Go Ape, Cotswolds Water Park and Bristol Zoo are all great options and easily accessible from the cottage.
