The property is situated at the head of the Slad Valley with unmade-up track for last 200 yards (where car access can be difficult in bad weather, especially snow); this is one of the valleys described by the poet Laurie Lee in his book ‘Cider with Rosie’. It is within an aonb, a perfect holiday retreat for quiet relaxation or for visitors interested in bird-watching, sketching, painting and walking. Town and sports amenities at Stroud (4 miles). Driftcombe Farmhouse had everything we hoped for: beautiful secluded location, wildlife sightings, footpaths on our doorstep and, of course, all amenities, including an open fireplace. The cottage was truly enchanting!
