About this property

Dursley 1 mile. Set over 3.5 acres of land in the picturesque Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the village of Uley, Gloucestershire is Rockstowes House, an impressive, three-storey, detached, Grade II-listed holiday home. Perfect for a large family gathering or a peaceful break with friends, the house is filled with home comforts and a range of additional amenities including tennis courts, a fabulous gazebo and a hot tub. A private driveway invites you in, where you can unload your bags near the door. Inside, a large entrance hall meets you, where a snug with a woodburning stove rests on your left and a sitting room with another toasty woodburning stove rests on the right. Straight ahead, you will find a well-equipped kitchen/diner home to an electric AGA, dining seating and a skylight, allowing natural light to flood in. From here, climb to the first floor, home to three beautifully presented en-suite bedrooms to catch your rest in, and up another floor you can find the remaining three bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite and the rest served by a family bathroom. The outdoor space at this property is what really steals the show; relax in the wood-fired hot tub, dine in the gazebo, unleash your competitive side with a game of tennis or football, or simply unwind on the sun loungers! When it’s time to explore the area, why not treat loved ones to a meal out? The charming village of Stroud is within easy reach and ideal for a choice of restaurants and stocking up on the essentials. Walkers will relish the positioning of this cottage with the delightful Coaley Peak meadow just a few miles away, as well as the luscious gardens at the National Trus’s Newark Park and Highgrove Gardens, which also has a quaint tea room. Slightly further afield you can find the popular Painswick Rococo Garden, where you can wander the scenic grounds, and the Painswick Beacon, an ancient Iron Age hill fort with a magnificent viewpoint of the stunning Cotswolds AONB. Make memories that will last a lifetime with a break at Rockstowes House.

Dursley, part of the 'Cotswold Edge', is located under Stinchcombe Hill and offers views of the Severn Vale and River Severn. Dursley's 1738 Georgian Market House hosts several markets, including a popular Farmer's Market. The Cotswold Way passes through the town, which has pubs, including the Gloucestershire Real Ale Pub of the Year, shops, restaurants, an indoor pool, and a golf course. Gloucester's Victorian docklands, Cirencester, the Gateway to the Cotswolds, and Cheltenham's Georgian architecture and racecourse are all nearby. Unspoiled Cotswolds provide something for everyone.

We could have invited guests, but wanted the place to ourselves to have some devoted family time, away from distractions. The house itself was a grand and wonderfully designed and presented work of architecture, while also being warm, homely and superbly spacious and well equipped. The house was fantastically appointed, and the grounds were beautiful. We regularly enjoyed sitting on the patio together taking in the lovely countryside views across the valley. Our children particularly loved the tennis court which was a real treat and the hot tub. We happened to have a week of beautiful weather that really gave us a fabulous time. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will be certain to check future availability for a return visit. Ben

It was clean tidy and beautifully presented. Booking and comms leading up to the stay were great, ensuring I was always well informed. Only regret is we didn’t book for longer!

It was very spacious, comfortable and well furnished, except for a lack of wardrobes. There were areas, especially outside, that needed some TLC and the walk to the garden pod is probably impossible for anyone with mobility difficulties.
